Mouse and Keyboard support?
So what is the deal with the keyboard and mouse support? Is support for keyboard and mouse good or bad? Please, share your thoughts. Is it a lazy port from that aspect or not? Oh, and please... please, I don't want to read comments like "Get a gamepad!". I also don't want to read plain comments such as "Keyboard support sucks!". I'm interested in knowing how it works and if it sucks then please explain why. That's the most important thing.

I'm interested if you can show me and others the default key biddings for example by taking a screenshot of the options menu, uploading it to Imgur and posting link to it here. I'd appreciate if you who have the game would also tell about their experiences with playing the game using keyboard and mouse. Oh, and I do definitely want to know if the in-game UI has been updated with the keyboard prompts or not.

Can players rebind the functions of the game to new keys? Is the mouse locked into the game window if it is used in the game e.g. to move camera or not? In what ways mouse is used in the game? Is it possible to drive in-game menus with the mouse? Camera issues were some of the most annoying things in Akiba's Trip because the mouse was not locked into the game window. Mouse was used as a cheap and dirty way to emulate PS Vita's touchscreen interface in that game.

Another thing from Akiba's Trip was that in the launcher window, where it was possible to rebind the keys, the game only showed the functions (e.g. "Punch up" or "Activate item") for the keyboard keys but didn't show the gamepad symbols (e.g. "Button X" or "Button Y").

And because the game only showed the gamepad symbols (e.g. "Press X button) in its in-game UI you had no idea at all what keys to press and when. The keyboard keys didn't show up in UI and weren't available to view from in-game. Players have to exit the game to view them. I'm interested to know if XSeed done that mistake here as well?

Thanks! :FFXIIIlightning:

I don't know, I tried it for abit, keyboard and mouse just doesn't seem comfortable for me. Probably because it's originally on consoles so it's made more for a controller. But still it probably can be playable? Controller for this game is the way to go honestly.

Rebind is seperate for keyboard, gamepad and mouse. I believe you can navigate the menu with the mouse, I didn't use the keyboard and mouse for long, I just switched to the controller almost immediately.

I think you can view the keybindings (I'm not understanding the last question, english is my second language) out of the game's battles only. However I think you can view the character you are playing as, moveset in-game battle and in hub area.

I took a few basic screenshots here:

One is an example of a 'tech' list where you can look at it to figure out the combos

Another is the key rebinding in the options menu

I'd appreciate it if you could take a look and post screenshot of the keyboard and mouse settings. What are the default keyboard and mouse biddings? You call them uncomfortable but what kind of control scheme we're talking about? Can you make a table like:

Attack = Mouse button 1 or Spacebar key
Jump = Mouse button 2
Select = Enter key
Cancel = Esc key
Browse = Arrow keys
etc. etc. etc.

Or take a screenshot?

I can split things for you to several yes or no questions...

When you're running the game in a windowed screen mode... If you move your mouse will mouse cursor travel out of game window boundary without you specifically pressing any keys such as alt+tab? Yes/No?

Do you as a player have to press and hold mouse button to move camera? Yes/No?

Can you view the keyboard and mouse key biddings when you're in the game from the game's own in-game settings user interface? Yes/No?

Or to view keyboard and mouse biddings, does player have to exit the game and restart it to view the controls from a separate external launcher program that starts before the game? Yes/No?

Does the game's own user interface e.g. during tutorial refer to keyboard buttons as "Press left Ctrl key", "Press Enter key"? Yes/No?

Or does the game user interface refer to gamepad symbols/icons such as "press X button" or "press right trigger"? Yes/No?

Edit: Thank you for screenshots. I'll take a look at them now.

Okay thank you, I'm not good at english.

It's uncomfortable to me because I don't ususally play games like these with a keyboard, it's like dynasty warrior where you have to have two hands on the keyboard and somehow still use the mouse to move the camera.

Uh yes, mouse cusor does seem to go out of the window if I just move it from in the game window to my desktop. Without alt tab or pressing any keys. In windowed mode.

Yes, I had to hold down my left mouse button and drag left or right to move the camera.

Yes, you can view key bindings in-game.

No there is no external launcher, starting from steam immediately opens the game itself, all settings have to be made in-game.

I don't believe so no, I unplugged my controller and the game still shows me 360 prompts. Maybe I have to restart or something?

Sorry, I forgot there is more options at the top and I forgot to scroll up. Here:

Keyboard is default since I did not change them at all.

Ok, so according to your screenshots the in-game user interface doesn't show mouse and keyboard keys but gamepad symbols. That means to me as a player that I have to first through trial and error figure out which keyboard key is the "Button X". This is also because the keyboard and mouse screen only shows the function such as "Jump" instead of symbols such as "Button X".

If you unplug your controller from your PC will the game user interface then show the keyboard and mouse symbols? Some games do things like that.

Apparently the game doesn't have an external keyboard and mouse setup launcher program like the Akiba's Trip has which is a MAJOR improvement since player can now view the keys while the game is running.

I'd very much appreciate it if you could also screenshot of all the rest of the keyboard biddings from the menu. It looks like it's going to be 3–5 screenshots. Sorry for the trouble!

Don't worry about your English. I can understand just fine what you're writing. And thank you very much for your efforts. This is a great help for me.

Yeah, some times the game has to be restarted and just unplugging the controller won't work. That seems to be how things work especially in Japanese games.
