Rotate the analog sticks during the spam battle. For some reason the button mashing stopped working for me on the final clash for both characters.

I beat her on Hard Mode with absolutely no grinding.
Counter is your friend.

Work on your guard timing, obtain scrolls by countering her reckless sword flailing and breach attack, spam Yumi's lv 2 Ninja Art (the one in which she spins) and you win.
It's easy.

Okay, first of all, you have to use Homura.
2ndly, I have gotten better at the game, but the thing that gets me are those D@mn "mash button" sessions

As for the button mashing thing, I find that to be pretty odd since I never had issues with it.
I play with the keyboard, since this game is pretty forgiving (unlike Burst Renewal on Three Star), and is not heavily dependent on complex and overly precise button/key inputs.
I'm theorizing that playing this game with the keyboard might be easier in the scope of those button mashing sessions. Do you play with a controller?

No I play with keyboard. and while I do agree that I never had trouble with those "button mash" sessions either, they go out of their way to make Asuka/Homura dark souls level of madness.

I could have beaten Asuka twice for how many times she regained HP just for the sake of having a "mash buttons". worst gameplay design in SK ever

Then I fail to see the issue.
I don't recall the final Asuka or Homura boss fights to be significantly difficult or frustrating.

Perhaps since I'm now playing through the game on Hard Mode only with no level grinding, I might get a new appreciation for that final battle.
I know the difficulty can't be changed for that battle in particular, but Homura's level will definitely make a difference.
