StateOS Development Update April 20th

Hi everyone,

Haven't posted or been around in a while so I figured I'd drop a status update on the game.

I'm still working on the project, but I'm going to be taking things slower and also much more seriously.

In July I'll be launching a major update to the game it won't be a feature addition update. I've added enough to the game for now. At this point what is important is that the game is playable as of right now, I can't say it is.

The engine upgrade did help in some ways as it did, but it didn't fully solve all of the issues with the game. My development process had been so far more about figuring things out as they go.

The major target for this next major update is stability over everything else.

Besides that, I'm very busy nowadays, if you couldn't tell. I work for several companies now doing a lot of high level work, but I still have some time to work on the game.

I will give another status update on the game to let you know it is till a work in progress.

It'll be hard to reach me the next few months, but in July or this summer things should have calmed down enough on the game and on my work that I should be active again.

Bug Reports

Please put your bug reports here or send me an email, I will respond to them and get them fixed soon enough. The game is in EA so I expect many bugs especially after major updates. I may also ask further questions to narrow down exactly what could be causing the bug if necessary....

Bug Fixes:

Lobbying groups needs full data instead of a - or N/A. Influence also seems like a placeholder.
All news outlets have 0% influence.
Key journalists are just their name without any other info about them.
Selecting a job, the UI for the job details is within its own card which is unnecessary and does not take up the full width.
Actions for a party don't do nothing like a donation, and others.
Job did not increase treasury amount on the monthly date.
Fixed memory leak and crash issue that was caused by the political party view due to the failing of properly fetching politicians.
Leadership of party committees is unknown.
Members of party committees are unknown.
Party committees are missing their names in the UI.
Charts UI is messed up for demographics.
Fixed many more bugs.

Features Added:

Legislation sandbox to test legislation for different countries and to see how the systems work.
Finished up Germany's map.
Germany's political party popularity distribution has been overhauled.
Elections for Germany should be working now in the Election Simulator.
Canada's specific legislation systems have been re-added.
Judicial vacancies have been re-added.
Judicial court cases has been re-added.
Added maps for Tokyo, Ishikawa, Fukui, and Toyoma.
Added prefecture maps for Japan, not all of them but some of them.
Main menu UI overhaul.
Country selection screen UI overhaul.
Creator hub UI overhaul.
Manage politicians UI overhaul.

Fixed Party Name Not Saved When Creating Party Manually In Election Simulator.

Fixed Ethnic Groups Textbox Shows Function Code.
Fixed Create New Event Causes Error.
Fixed Failed Scenario Load Error on Manager Screen.
Fixed Party Selection Not Persisted to Campaign Setup When Using A Custom Scenario.
Fixed Custom Scenarios not having heatmaps for party popularity for region select.
Fixed County Political Landscapes Not Updated When Parties Change In The Scenario Editor.
Fixed Campaign Tab Shows Sub-tabs When No Campaign Active when you already hold a position but are not running in an election.
Fixed Polling Tab Shows No Polling Firms Available within the campaign tab for doing a poll.
Fixed Election Results Modal Slow to Appear when there are a lot of elections.
Fixed News Articles Use Player Theme Instead of Outlet Theme.
Fixed Branch Text Missing in Office Information.
Fixed skip to end for Presidential elections (I had worked on it and marked it as fixed despite me not fully fixing it yet).
Fixed state maps in electoral college Presidential races from not updating UI wise in real time.
Adding custom politicians as candidates to elections in the election simulator should be fully working now.
Fixed bug where declaring an election quickly after campaign start would break the overview section of the campaign tab.
Once again fixed the bug where saving a generated party would reset their ideology to centrist along with the selected ideology within the party management stage.
Fixed State Senators from being considered upper house instead of regional legislature in the filter within election night.
Fixed other UI issues with the presidential election. Presidential elections now work properly from the election night.
Governor races in campaigns now use the state election card.
MMD elections should finally now elect more than 1 winner. (I may have said I fixed this earlier but I did not fully test it.)
Election night elections were not showing up in recent election history so I fixed that as well.
Fixed policy stances UI in the campaign tab removing the value sliders and it will load your personal stances by default. Which you can save and change for the campaign.
Campaign stances affect your personal stances, this way it affects your election polling and coalition alignment score.
Election Results Modal Slow to Appear, worked on making it much faster performance wise when using many elections.

Additions / Changes:

Score breakdown for campaign score to explain how certain things contribute to your campaign score and polling.
Added back interviews and quizzes to the hiring system.
Changes for performance reasons to how politicians are handled regarding their policy stances.
Upgrade staff UI to use the new full screen view for certain screens.
Removed placeholders for electoral results and in the news functionality for politicians.
Redesigned the UI of the regular election night for Presidential elections.
Created a relative scale system for region level maps for consistency in size. This should make state maps look more cohesive. No more blown up states or weird positions.
Added a UI and actions for inaugurations for new offices. Their speeches are based on their ideology currently for simplicity.
Results UI for campaign actions and more now clearly shows what changed with an animation towards the new values in a full screen.
Added news and electoral results for the backgrounds and histories of politicians.
Changed winner announcement UI to make it look nicer and more grand.
Worked on Minnesota, Iowa, and Florida party popularity results to be more realistic.
Edit politicians has been added back into the game, I have not tested it fully yet. So it may not be working properly.
Added world gen options and party control to the scenario editor.
Click Politicians in Politicians Tab to View Profile.
More Bill Names.

Just been testing the demo and this looks really impressive so far especially with all the countries to come as shown in some of the screenshots. I've got a few questions on planned features etc. >Political parties; are there plans to allow use an image file for party logos. If not, being able to create simple logos with text on a background would be a easy alternative.
