PS4 controller not working

I've seen other past threads about this and they seemed to have varying degrees of resolution. If I didn't want to use my 360 pad, keyboard (which doesn't even seem to work fully either?), or some 3rd-party software, am I simply SOL and can't play Melty Blood if it's not recognizing my PS4 pad?

to be fair, it's just my ps4 controller. Yours may still work as these type of bugs tend to be inconsistent (it DOES have full controller support after all, per its Steam page).

My didn't work too but I binded keyboard keys to gamepad buttons in big picture mode (steam) and it works.

I found a solution that works for me.
If your PS4 controller is functional for big picture mode, then you can move to this next step.
Go to Melty Blood in your library, open controller options, and in the box to use
Steam Controller config for non steam controllers you select FORCED ON,
This fixed my PS4 controller so I can use it in game. After a lot of hair pulling... it was that easy.

I had refunded Melty already, but was planning to buy it eventually down the line. But that fix sounds pretty straight forward, so I'll probably re-purchase sooner and try that.

Aside from the controller not working. Does anyone have experienced that the sound died when you plug the controller, but comes back once you unplug it?
Is it just me or is this a problem for other as well.

Ok, an update: this works. THANK YOU. And props to French Bread for not having menu buttons tied to in-game bindings. Such a good port b/c of that.

I haven't tried that out. I keep my pad plugged in to my PC at all times.

My controller is detected and functioning normally. I've changed it to force on, restarted steam, restarted my pc, still not working... Anyone have any similiar situation like me?
