The difficulty thing was kind of a tease in my playthrough. I played on normal difficulty because of all the scary reputation. At some point around level 17 though I just started ripping through everything once I got two new weapons (the flaming 2-hander and the war bow +1), and then since level 22 or so there's nothing that gives me trouble. It was really sudden though, like level 16 I feared certain creatures and then at level 17 I didn't. Ranged combat is pretty OP on normal once you get some good gear, and the only sort of tough opponents then are the Albs with their flamethrower hacks that shoot through walls.

Overall, it's s mixed bag for me. Don't love it, don't really hate it. I can see most of the bad points, and some of the good points. It makes me want to play games with better movement and character building.
One thing I absolutely hate is making choices without information, then being unable to correct any mistakes due to the lack of information.
If you're going up against 'skull' enemies; you NEED a SHIELD.
The shield blocks ALL incoming damage, EVEN IF YOU'RE OUT OF STAMINA.
Certain enemies can strike past it, but from what I've seen there are only a few.
But that's just life, you have no idea what the consequences will be for certain with anything you say or do.
In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that where you feel you've made bad choices, they may well pay off eventually in unexpected ways...
Not adequately describing what something does in game, and making the choice permanent, is hardly "just life". It's more about poor documentation.
That's exactly what life is.
WOW! This is huge. I'm going to get one right away...I've been frustrated like crazy, and wondering how the heck all these people are leveling against these freaking mobs, lol. Thanks...fingers crossed.
...sadly that didn't quite work with the troll due to my ineptness.

Yeah, because everyone is capable of killing all those mobs swarming him around the Cyclops in melee just like that. Im actually surprised you're not using the "skip to 1:10" trick anymroe.
