What does it mean: this NPC's death has changed the story/world??

I killed Hakon the Berzerker - only after he attacked me - and it said I had 'changed the story' ..... how important is this? Feels strange when they made him attack me..... I haven't joined a faction yet - does this make Berzerkers unjoinable or something?

Quick question. Have you done enough quests that the berserker head honcho would let you join the berserkers yet?

If so, then it probably does nothing (as it did nothing for me)

If not, then he'll probably take this into account when he's deciding if you can join or not (no worries, you can still join you just have to jump through a few more hoops).

It probably means you'l lose at least one quest line that rewards more then 100 elex/XP or get more problems when trying to join / rank up a faction.


Was Hakon that idiot who went apeshi* after telling him you wont show the position of the alb rebellion dudes? If yes, I killed him too before reloading and keeping him alive by lying; but so far he has shown no further relevance after that quest. I could join the berserks easily since ages so at best he'll be of matter for ranking up I assume.

Hakon also apparently magically kills the Separatists anyhow, which does have an impact, all the way to the last battle.

I think it just means that character is still relevant to a quest. I walked into some ruins and was attacked by an NPC called Leo, killed him and got that message. Loaded an earlier save and left it alone. Later on Ray took me to that ruin on his companion mission and we killed Leo anyway, no conversation or comments.

I WISH I HAD KILLED HAKON.... Those separatists were good guys and i really thought, the guy will talk to them... I went back to the separatists to check... so late. Damn... the game is doing a pretty good job on unexpecting situations. U think, u re in control of everything, hell no :D

Because of his dialog, I made sure to exit the dialog and save the game.
I was pissed when i told him where they were and went to check on them later.

You should also use the SPOILER tags for stuff like that

Hakon is also a trainer so maybe thats why you got the message

I'm not sure yet what is possible in this game, but in Gothic 3 I killed pretty much everyone in the game including NPCs whose death meant not being able to complete a quest. PB games can sort of whip you up into a bloodlust.

I killed him too. He was a jerk. Ragnar was really angry and made all of the traders in Goliet refuse to deal with me until I paid a fine of 2,000 elexit. You can get by without Hakon because there is another Survival trainer in town.

He won't do that if you've already completed enough side quests to his satisfaction and turned in that particular quest (the one where he goes through a list of your deeds).

Hakon attacked me when I called him a murderer for killing the separatists. No one cared that I killed him. Not even the guards who were walking by at the time.

Ragnar did briefly mention it when I asked him how I was doing with the faction. Something like "And I don't even want to talk about that thing with Hakon." Really on the list of things I did to annoy him, that was relatively minor.

But ultimately you can throw shards at Ragnar to have him look past transgressions like that.
