Ignore the bad reviews, these people are casuals who don't know what an RPG is supposed to be.
If you have to ask that question, just wait 3-6 months for the sale. You either know about titles like this (and desire them) or do not.
No shame in that. Don't think saving 15 euros is doing anything but salving your conscience: just pirate it and have the personal ethos to buy it if you fall in love with it.
Personally: 2nd best game of 2017, and well worth the price. But I am a very very old game player.
Please tell us your favorite game of 2017.
That would help us understand your posts.
Watch some videos like ACGs, or look up some of the major issues.
There is a lot of zealous fanboyism when it comes to this game. It has some serious flaws, including borderline clinically flatlined AI, balance issues, clunky movement and combat, questionable UI decisions and missing QoL features.
This game isn't as great as a lot of people make it out to be. Consider the possibility that those raving reviews have a lot of PB cultism attached them.
For a game released in 2017, this is mechanically very subpar and very lacking in terms of production values and polish. If you want to buy it, I'd suggest you wait for a sale.
There are a lot of triehard attempts to make Elex come across as a 'true hardcore RPG', giving a lot of people here a cheap excuse to just dismiss any criticism by immediately insulting someone for being 'a mainstream casual that only plays AAA RPGs'. A lot of folks here refuse to acknowledge this is objectively a bad product that needed an additional half a year of development time.
If you want a good, challenging RPG with a high level of polish and execution, get Original Sin II instead. That is a game worth full price and is hard/challenging because of clever, tactical gameplay. It also doesn't adhere to ancient mechanics like Elex does. Forced to look at your watch to open your Inventory, which can cause reaction in settlements of the anti-tech faction. That is straight up r*tarded and convoluted.
What's your number 1 for 2017 Boink?
Well, i haven't played it yet and streams don't really let me experience the controls which are one of the most hated things and i can't know about the quality of the story and quests without spoilers this way.
I surely won't pirate anything, but neither do i want to pay more than it's worth.
Probably i will buy it here and refund before 2 hours and then, if i liked but not loved it, go for a keyseller.
Why people even give the time of day to squidcake is beyond me. He clearly has the world's biggest axe to grind with PB. I wouldn't be so triggered if he was actually an oldschool RPG fan, but he thinks The Witcher 3 was a competent open-world RPG, so, yeah.
Witcher 3 isn't a game. It's a movie with a little game thrown in.
What? Who's squidcake?
You do far less damage to the industry when you pirate rather than using Grey Market sites.
