Currently the fanatical clerics believe the Infinite Sky is a kind of heaven thing. They talk about reaching it after death as a state of enlightenment, especially when death occurs furthering the reach for technology.
But all religions are based on truth and that truth tends to get warped and changed with countless retellings. This would be no different.
I know there is a prophet who foretold of the meteor's arrival and told them how to prepare (I think his name was Arvid?). Likely this was a scientist or something in the old world and became famous after his prediction came true and his preparations managed to save some people. Fame turned to worship, worship turned him into a prophet.
As for the ACTUAL infinite skies (as opposed to heaven), I'm thinking it's either the name of the corporation this 'prophet' worked for, or it's a space exploration program, or a combination of the two. And, again, it's meaning has been warped with time and retellings.
So yeah that's my current running theory that's probably completely wrong lol.
I do know that you find out the truth behind Callaan, I saw it on a thread around here somewhere hidden by spoiler tags, but I didn't look cause I don't want to know for certain. It's likely that throughout the game we'll learn more about these things as well :)
Nice analysis, but i kinda have the feeling (based on the clues i have found) that Infinite Skies was a space program to save the humans that " count"....if yo uread the documents it is impleid that the selection to joiun this program was very harsh, you had to be basically a perfect human being to join, this united to the fact that the audio log about that old world woman DAISY, she start to cry and scream in desperation when she get the autmatic voice response from Infintie Skies telling here that she wasnt selected for the program.....i see somethign dark in there, i think few elected people managed to get in to space before the comet struck, and the yare either leaving in some space colony in the space or they literally colonized another planet :D
I really love the lore by the way, even before the comet struck, the Earth was already descending to hell, because of lack of resources, pollution, overpopulation and ofcourse the massive world wide chaotic panic weeks beofre the comet struck , yes it is a cliche, liek Fallout and Mad Max, but i just love it anyway :D
And I haven't found that voice recording, will have to hunt for it :) I went to the Company Premises and was exploring a little bit but then got smashed by like 5 mutants. Reload, run away, I'll come back later lol.
I haven't played much of Elex yet; currently only in level 12. But I saw the following in a video by the YouTube channel LastKnownMeal (I have a habit of getting bits and pieces of spoilers even before I complete stuff, dunno why it never bothered me):
The comet was diverted from its original path to crash into Magalan - This is something Jax gets to know in the end from Hybrid. Also Caja mentions that Elex is actually a living being and not just a mineral
Also, I have found the following thing mentioned in one of the ruined buildings, guarded by Albs, where you go to find Alb technologies for the first companion mission of Falk:
The comet crashed one day early
Now LastKnownMeal had a theory that some advanced civilization must be responsible for the comet crash and they are also responsible for the Elex being sent with the comet.
But after reading this thread, I have this theory (dunno how plausible it is):
1) Infinite Skies was responsible for the comet getting diverted from its original path to crash into Magalan, maybe as a way to solve overpopulation and the way humans in Magalan were hogging resources. In the meantime, their selected list of individuals were sent to space, maybe a space station, waiting for things to normalize in Magalan before they could return. Not sure where Elex comes into play in the Infinite Skies' plans.
2) Arvid was a defector in the Old World Infinite Skies who wanted the world to know about the comet crash and Infinite Skies' sinister plans but nobody believed him. He somehow survived. He might have known some secret about the powers given by Elex consumption, and thanks to that he hasn't died yet and is living as the Hybrid, waiting patiently for the Infinite Skies people to return so that he can get his revenge.
Let's see where the game takes me. Still a looooong way to go. Haven't even visited the Fort in Tavar. Only discovered areas around Edan, Ebessa and just the building Hort (haven't roamed around outside Hort yet)
