For example.
This is a good start, I can only find Goliet, I have been marking areas that look like they might be NPC hubs and working my way to them, but so far I have only found houses to loot and currently invulnerable mutants who 2 shot even Duras.
I went east to try and meet the Outlaws, I was attacked by some literal winged demon thing.
I'm geussing I should put Duras back in Goliet so he does not get killed and jetpack around to all the faction towns? Kinda like starting new in an MMO and doing the "starter zones" ?
E.g: If i jetpack past the demon to the east of goliet, I won't meet more? It will go back to raptors / critters further east?
The creatures themselves seem to be RNG with some specifications as to what level they are spawned. Sometimes they're the easy low level ones, sometimes they're higher and harder. Just save before entering combat and you can get a feel for them and if your arse is handed to you, load and avoid it.
To get to Tavar I pretty much spent the whole way running past enemies, attacking any I knew I could defeat (those stone critters and the odd turkey-like birds), jetpacking over mountains, and essentially just sprinting my way there. It didn't have too difficult an entry requirement and there was a teleporter out front so if you get there and aren't able to fulfill it, you can return easily.
To get to Ignadon will probably be difficult on foot. I'm level 14 and still struggle with a lot of the creatures there, not to mention lava flows, but I got there through a wandering cleric who, when I spoke to, he hypnotised me and teleported me there but that relies on finding a wandering person.
To get to the Domed City, you've probably already got the teleporter near the convertor for the quest you get from Goilet (can't remember the name). I teleported there and followed the basic direction of the main road, mostly hugging the mountains to the west. There is a tough combat situation to get into there (though apparently there's a different way into the city that I didn't come across, so don't know how hard that one is) but shouldn't be too bad with a companion.
I just wish I could have named my character how I wanted. He would have been called Sir Robin lol

I know they did not with Risen, in between chapters they would, but i used to clear out the whole area each chapter just for XP.
i have no noticed any respawns, but if i rest to make 7 days pass or something do they return so I can grind a few levels?
This is so the extra claws + teeth etc I get from each kill with a bow generally recover the cost of replacing arrows + give me a profit. Killing the turky birds is great money as they give a good amount of stuff each kill and only take 2-4 arrows.
And then there's quests in other places, the jetpack and sprinting helps getting there with all the wildlife.
There's an amulet to give more xp for quests too, I only just got it, a shame :(
Imo killing in the early is a huge waste of time, it takes time and gives little xp.
I understand the general idea now I think, the world is not "properly" leveled to be balanced based on progression, enemies are randomly weak or powerful all over the place and until you can kill everything, you will be randomly running around and overusing the jetpack to escape.
I had a similar experience with Risen 1, just not to this extent.
As soon as I could kill a ghoul in 1v1 combat, I went around the world killing every ghoul I remember running from for what was at the time, massive XP boosts.
Being over level 10 without leaving Goliet seems odd though, i'll do another sweep before looking at the Outlaw desert.
Killing isn't a good way to get XP, the rewards (outside of monetary and practicing combat flow) are negligable. They do respawn, just very slowly. I haven't sat down to work out exactly how long it takes. The ACG review said they respawn once a day, but I don't think that's an ACTUAL day in that if you sleep they return (cause they don't), but maybe it's after 24 hours of you being awake? I'm not sure, but I know creatures around Goilet I've killed quite often. And it's always a different creature (eg at the bottom of that windy path leading to it I've fought a stone critter, two of the turkey-birds, and two or three of those mangy dog things, but all spawned in the same spot).
Are you talking about without leaving the city walls of Goliet? I did not realize there was that much to do to get enough XP to reach level 10 without combat other than the few creeps.
Where is this amulet as im on ultra diff as i restarted due to messing my char up would be really handy.
