You can get some very nice free ones out in the wilds.
Psycho in the sense that you want a tedious and bad made ranged combat using the very few mage skills that ELEX offer you.
Im basing it on Monopoly the board game....
What you think im basing it upon?
It's kind of just the way that the game works. You can start out a fight with magic, but the enemy will inevitably close the distance on you (the more difficult enemies anyways) and when they're in your face, it's a bit tough to make magic work, plus you'd have to be constantly chugging mana potions. It's just easier to get enemies to 25-50% with magic, and finish them with a melee weapon once they get to you. However, I have cheesed a few Alb mechs purely with fireball.
if you called the mage I call the thimble!
get in good with the berserkers OP, follow their laws, be a little snitch if you must to earn ragnar's favor since my understanding is they are the magi clan. Also, in ragnar's motel palace, there is a dining area off to the side near a main entrance that has a berserker amulet and it gives you 10 mana iirc. 10 of something, I think it was mana. You need the berserker skill unlocked to use it, and you have to go into sneak to steal it while the guards are not walking trhough, but it's a sweet amulet. Also intelligence and cunning can unlock further attribute points if you're willing to put skill points into it, so you could have a secondary weapon but I'm sure high intelligence weapons are in the game and no doubt they'd be likely cleric lasers or something.
There are 27 spells/stims in this game. And at least 6 more from the cleric items.
So the question is really valid - what the hell are you basing your statement on?
Unlike Gothic/Risen enemy "mages" do not sit back and fling spells slowly. They either have energy weapons, guns, or at will energy attacks like poison, fire, etc. And they are machinegun fast in their fire.
You will slowly fire back and run out of mana very quickly while they limitlessly massacre you with ranged attacks that do not require mana. Another one of the joys of combat.
Want to be a "mage"? Cleric---> PSI and/or Flamethrower ---> I WIN. Nothing comes close. I do it now when I'm pissed at the janky combat and just incinerate everything in my visual range but I wouldn't call it fun.
