Kids these days, will only play rpgs if they have top notch graphics and a character creation lol

Plenty of great rpgs have you playing a character instead of creating one. if you want a game where you can create your own party get Divinity Original Sin 2, amazing game that lets you create your own dude and part. Doesn't mean you should miss out on Elex though just because you can't create a character from the start. You can customize the character they have given you very well actually later in the game with armor, many different skills,etc..

RPGs don't mean character creation. It's just a possible feature of some. Those that have character creation usually have a less focused story.

What I think are the best RPGs ever made don't have character creation:

Chrono Trigger
Gothic 2
Gothic 1

And then an Action-Adventure games with RPG elements:

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Pretty much, focusing on a character enables a developer to have more personal and specific writing.

Jrpg != openworld rpg. Fixed main char for jrpg is fine. Openworld rpg should have character creation Or the main character is cool enough, not like elex boring ugly bald guy

how is he boring? you're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cold blooded mass murderer that picks up whatever weird ♥♥♥♥ he gets his hand on to revenge-kill his former master while de-populating a whole fckn continent, messing with ppl wherever he can, stealing, killing, torturing and using ppl as best as he can.
while wearing full plate armor, FCKN SUNGLASSES, a huge ass burning 2h sword and a grenade launcher, oh and you can cast magic as well.
