Does it even matter what you said to him?
Are there any dialogues/quests that are changed because of your words about your past?

It seems that you, as a role-player, are afraid of letting Jax be honest to Ragnar - but do notice that not being honest to Ragnar is a role-playing choice, too. If all you fear is repercussions in general, perhaps don't be honest to Ragnar.

Game will tell you when a companion likes or dislikes something, instead of asking suggest thanks to that mechanic just save scum.

As far as I recall, no choices like this effect things in long run in any way, so no worries there. (The biggest thing is How Cold you are if you Very Cold or Not will matter (mostly in late game) so watch them drugs and emotions).
