ELEX

Ending cliffhanger. beware of spoilers (obviously)
so since the beginning of the game i thought the story was very good. The voice actor for Jax may not be that great, but he definately grew on me. however his lack of emotion, or eor way of speaking does make sense given the story. But when i got to the point where i met the hybrid, thats when the writing really got to me. The game has loopholes here and there, and cutscenes that will have you questioning wtf actually happened, but when I started speaking to the Hybrid, he was able to change my mind.

I think this is the first time in my life that ive played a game where i was a part of the character development. Meaning, that i started out thinking screw the free people, im an alb, then starting to feel for the free people, then starting to despise the hybrid, then after speaking to him, wantig to be on his side. It was like reading a very good book. Never have i been that immersed in a video game, even as a child. I would go as far to say that this is the game with my second favorite story ever written. for anyone who cares, the first is final fantasy tactics.

But that cliffhanger at the end is BRUTAL. This is obviously setting the stage for the sequel, but idk how im gona wait for it. This game is still brand new practically, so looking forward to the sequel already is going to take forever. PB has me hook line and sinker right now. I honestly hope they skip making any DLC and move right on to the sequel. The ending actually left me with more questions than it answered. Where is Kallax, where is Jax's father, what has the hybrid been saying to the aliens? so many more.

I also developed a fan theory right away. I believe the hybrid is an alien. I think he was the husk chosen to be posessed by the elex in order to prepare for the aliens arrivel, and was planning on enslaving humans the entire time. I dont think he "sees the future" i think he planned the future. But humans found a way to transmute the elex, maybe the aliens didnt even know how to transmute it, and never expected this to happen? Maybe the plantlife on earth that allowed the transmutation of elex into mana has never been seen before by the aliens, so they had no way of knowing their plans could fail like this. This also explains caja and how she can listen to the elex. Maybe the hybrid is sending signals to his alien friends in the form of progress reports or something, and this is what Caja hears. I havent beaten the game 100% so maybe some things i think are proven false though sidequests, but idk. Its gona be a long wait for elex 2 so discuss

to anyone who would like to complain about the game, namecall, harass, or generally be rude your post will be immedaitely reported by me. This is a post for fans of the game, if you have a negative opinion about something thats fine, I know its not perfect. But this discussion is to be with a positive frame of mind

It is the right kind of cliffhanger to have, cause the main story line of the game is still complete, the main quest is actually complete, they leave room for more adventures.
Compare it to a game that did the cliffhanger the wrong way;
Kingdom Come where the story line and the main quest line do not even get completed at all. If you played Witcher 3, think what it would have been like if the game ended after doing the Baron/3 Witches series of quests on your quest to search for Ciri and it ends there, that is what Kingdom Come basically does.

When i said the cliffhanger is brutal, you may have misinterpreted me. I meant it as in its powerful, not ithat ts annoying or anything. I believe the only bad cliffhanger is one thats never followed up on. Like half life. I refuse to play HL2 because im not gona sit on some cliffhanger for the rest of my life. its disrespectful to the fans

nah, I was agreeing with you that the cliffhanger was a good cliffhanger. A good cliff hanger is appreciated, but a terrible one really puts a bad taste in ones mouth.

I see. Its rare to see them so well done. I hope this is going to be another 3 part series. The ending just left me wanting more so badly

Well they already started on part 2 of the game.

I could have sworn I read where they planned it being a trilogy, but I could be wrong on that.

yep, after reading this, i looked up their release dates, its really difficult to predict how long it will be before a sequel, they dont have anything close to a pattern. The only pattern they have is that they work with trilogys mostly. they average at making a new game every 2.6 years :(

I say new because i dont want to count gothic 1 because i dont know when they started working on gothic 1, it would skew the average if i counted their first game

With the reported budget for Elex 2, you might be seeing Elex 2 this time next year or sooner. Cause it looks like they might be doing the same thing with Elex 2 as they did with Gothic 2. Gothic 2 released a little over a year after Gothic 1 released and they did that by using the same engine and reusing a lot of the assets from Gothic 1, which really cuts down on development time and costs.

I have a hard time believing Elex 2 will be within a year. the only game they spent less than 2 years on was gothic 2 according to their wiki. As much as i want to have an Elex 2 in my hands right now, id rather they took their time and made it as good/better than this one. But hey stranger things have happened. They came out with this game on ps4 and xbox immediately, and switch less than a year after the pc release, so its safe to assume they arent going anywhere. I hear that console releases are the real way to make money for AA and AAA game devs so good for them

I'm not trying to be inflamatory, but I genuinely believe anyone that is okay with this rubbish has shallow taste and low standards. I'd love for somebody to prove me wrong, but it's not happening.
Anyone who buys coke to celebrate an indie game launch has more than low standards, they have a mental condition
Dixon Sider Mar 16, 2018 @ 10:34am
why are we talking about drugs and mental conditions? stop derailing

Well, that's what Byzantine Fisherman aka mesal has come up with after deleting 500 fan posts about ELEX, claiming that he had been "on coke" while playing the game and enjoying it. It's one way to lose all credibility.

Yes he was.

And ignoring his cocaine riddled trolling has never worked, and he'll continue to call you and anybody else who agrees with you with having no standards and disgusting taste.

what i dont get is why the hell would you care? If you care then he wins lol. why would you give him that satisfaction? I guess im too stubborn to care. i consider myself better than crazy people like that, or much more valuable as a person so i cant even be bothered with thier opinion. Its the internet, you will find endless people like that, get used to it. If you consider yourself superior then there should be no need to defend yourself.
Dixon Sider Mar 16, 2018 @ 4:50pm
If I cant even make a post about the game without people complaining about mental diseases or something irrelevant, then I will just consider myself better than the entire Elex community on the steam forums, and not bother coming back.

How do you propose to deal with someone like Byzantine Fisherman who will insult everyone who says anything positive about the game, and only gets worse and worse the more you ignore him? Ignoring him gives the exact opposite effect than what you would normally think, and reasonable discussion is not possible from him.

Just stop caring. Im not going to argue that he doesnt exist. i still respond to him sometimes, but when i do i dont try and disrespect him. I can respond and defend the game while still showing him respect no matter what he says to me, u know why? because im better than him. Im also better than anyone else who tries to disrespect others based on their opinions.
