The "test of time"? Are you kidding? I've replayed games older than the Baldur's Gate series and Icewind Dale series. As much as I like the BG/IWD series for some of the features and content, Pillars of Eternity is superior in many regards.
You've given up early. Rather than the game being a mess (which is very unlikely because it works well and can be completed in various ways), it's more likely that you are one of the highly negative grumpy impatient players, who want everything be served on a silver plate.
And as far as being a grumpy impatient player who wants everything given to me Iv'e played loved and FINISHED every gothing and risen game and I gave this one a more than fair chance but it was just not a good game unfortunately.
And?
I disagree. And about "loving and finishing" the other games, I really *really* couldn't bear Risen 1 any longer after several attempts and dropped out at start of chapter 4. Yet I don't hang out in its forum as to bash it endlessly. ELEX offers a much more complete gaming entertainment package.
And
You admit that people are still playing baldurs gate a game from 1998 TODAY! and you'r still saying it doesn't stand the test of time oh brother.
Look I get that your happy with this game and thats fine but as far as I'm concerned it was just a lazy cashgrab to milk gothic and risen fans and I know PB can do better which they have on just about every other game they made hell even risen2 was better than this.
That's why people on the forum tell you that it has been released in a fine state, has received a huge zero day update and several updates since then to address remaining issues. It works fine and is finished.
The enhanced edition by Beamdog is just six years old. The v2 series is just two years old just like the new Siege of Dragonspear DLC.
I've played and replayed games older than the original BG saga. As long as software still works, people will continue using it. That isn't different with games. Still, the ancient graphics of BG/IWD haven't aged well, for example.
Lazy? Utter nonsense, given how long they've worked on it with their few developers.
If you can`t show some basic respect to others don`t expect it in return.
After some study, it is a trend I have seen here in the ELEX forums, most threads are started by the same pers and then people who respond are flamed.
TOXIC.
You have point.
Still somehow when someone is praising Elex as best rpg ever made I feel urge to comment.
Also reading D'amarr acting like PB pr department everytime anyone dares to speak any negative opinion about Elex is fun.
Huh? News to me.
PB's PR department would be ill-advised to respond to topics in the way I do it.
Quoting you here:"Wanna know what I think about people, who cannot even spell the game's title correctly?"
Seems you are the one who have personalattitude problems.
They put so much effort into hating this videogame, is it how they were insulted by its difficulty? Just got slapped their ego by vibes of git gud?
I'm not saying that I am good at this game, just playing it on ultra and having fun, killing stuff and doing quests.
Agreed. Gamers can dislike a game because of the combat/graphics/bugs/loot boxes/ect, but why would that gamer take the time to go to a forum for a game he/she so rabidly dislikes? Just to bash those gamers that do like it & "labeling" them? That makes no sense. That just reeks of bigotry to me.
You don't like a particular game, fine, move on to the forums of those games you do like. Express your opinion of the game, even if it's negative, fine. Just don't mock or ridicule those gamers who do like it.
I personally loved Elex. I think it's an excellent RPG with a unique world that blends fantasy with post apocolyptic envirornments, and without being nuclear.
I agree with everything you said above. Very well put. I own the game, and was playing it when I saw the discussion started by dfrom975 ( to answer D'marr from earlier has started 9 threads in the last 3 or 4 weeks) stating ELEX was the best RPG ever. I was not trolling forums, I can post here.... ANYTIME I want to.
I commented with my thoughts and opinions on the game. After reading some of the earlier threads and comments I saw some people who would be classified as a Fanboy ( a person who has unreal knowledge of a certain game, like D'amarr- he quotes stats and facts on ELEX and PB games like a dev would) and used the word as a comical mechanic to those who would defend the game to the end.
All of a sudden I am a horrible person who knows nothing about games. According to people here on this game thread, if your not good at ELEX your a terrible gamer- git gud. Ok, I get it.....there is a niche group of people who like this game. Kool, I bought it at full price...2 copies for me and a friend. I do enjoy playing it, have 6 hours now logged into it. But, some people here just need to understand others maybe might not know as much as them about this game or the dev who made it.
Like I said earlier, people are taking personally these comments about a game PB has already forgotten about. Lol, I will play it because I want to even if it's not perfect.
Hate is a strong word.
