Romancing
Spolers, I guess, maybe:
Am I the only one upset that there aren't any same sex romance options ?
Also having only two romance options with a huge open world seems like a wain effort to mark a feature like this added without trying too much...

This is the first time PB implemented some form of romance in their games, so it was to be expected that it was going to be pretty basic. 'Only two' is still two more than Oblivion or Fallout 3, both considered exemplar open-world RPGs, so I think we should applaud romance being an element at all in Elex, and wait and see if PB will expand this feature in future games.

Maybe you're right maybe you're wrong. First time doesn't mean they couldn't've learnt from other games and do a decent job with it though. I get it that the PB team is quite small etc, but having more of these options would've benefited the games overall appeal.

I mean both those games came out 10+ years ago thats giving a hard break to this game comparing games from a different time in terms of what is offered

Maybe PB needs more practice on romancing...

The age of a game doesn't matter much when talking about the possibility of having a romance in a game. Baldur's Gate 2 had extensive romance options and it was released 18 years ago. What matters most is that the two games I mention are made by huge studios who could easily have included a bit of romance options in those games (would have taken 0.00001% of their budget) but they didn't and nobody complained about it and called both games landmark games for the open-world ARPG genre, whereas a tiny studio like PB did include two romance options in their game (probably spent 0.1% of the budget on it) and people do complain. :steambored:

Because standards have completely changed on whats expected so giving a dev a pass on doing something ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because games 10 years ago didnt do it is beyond silly id rather not have the option than have something half assed especially considering the rest of the game is so mediocre

What it all comes down to in the end is - it's Piranya Bytes. They just aren't romantic. Newer have been and who knows if they ever truly will be.
But still as a gamer I can express my disappointment that a game I generally like could've been better if it gave more thought to things like this. PB if you are reading this - please learn. I love your games and I just want them to get better and better!

P.S. I'm extremely tired because I slept 4 hours last night and my sentences might not make sense at times. Sorry.

Nasty's reaction when you had started dating her and then choose Caja is just perfect and absolutely well done.

The first time I read the words "Elex Nasty romace" I was like - what makes it so nasty that youtube has that many videos of it :D

Can you break up with both of them? Like you got to know them better and decided that it's best to split up....

No, sadly no, Piranha Bytes does not follow the Steam forums for Elex (unmoderated). They do follow Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube though, you can find the links here:

The only reasons for me to pursue romances in games that implement them is to experience extra role-playing content, for the laughs - censor bars, kissing/sex scenes with screen turning black and such - and for any story related surprises there may be. Such as in Baldur's Gate, where your significant other will be taken hostage. The role-playing factor can be entertaining at times.

The romances in ELEX are short, shallow and effectively irrelevant. Nevertheless, they help with giving Caja and Nasty a bit more personality, and that's okay for the role-playing.

But that's the thing, romances in Elex could've been so much more and it would add a lot more to the role-playing experience.

If you play Spiderman youre Girlfriend is most probably Mary Jane.
If you play as Ironman and you had the option to "date" someone, they would probably all be only Females.
If you want to play as a Character that can choose his own Gender and with what Gender it would like to interact, play any other Game that will give this option, like Sims or Dragon Age etc.

leave this SJW crap out thx..
Isn't it a bit far fetched to compare Jax to Spiderman or Ironman. The former is only making his apperiance, while the latter are almost legendary.
Player character creation and customization is a bit of pandora's box, if it goes too far. For Jax, they could have offered a few customization options indeed. Skin color nuances from Alb pale to suntanned, scars, hair, facial hair, eye color, measurements, muscle definition and so on. Within the restrictions of the story and Jax's background, a few such customizations would be possible and would make some players happy.

SJWs only wait for any attack vectors, though. No black Jax? No female Jaxine? *g* And if a female player character didn't have the same physical strength as a male character, some people would be upset already. Apropos female characters, anyone remembers the complaints about "big boobs Patty" related to the Risen series?

I think PB have nicely avoided some of the pitfalls this time around with ELEX. But d'oh, some people have nothing better to do than to complain about the lack of different female faces. :steamfacepalm:

Exactly! We like these things and it would benefit the reputation of the game and PB themselves. I'm not critisizing, I'm just ofering insights. I actually like the game. Maybe some people use these arguments to demean the game, but all I want is to play a great game. The reason I mentioned same sex options is because I like playing them out, not to point out that there aren't any.

I'm sorry, but I just have to ask - what does SJW stand for?
