Relationship levels

Does anyone understand how these work better? Relationships with anyone, romances included? For example I'm traveling around with Caja and I did iunno, 8-10 quests with 7 or 8 "Likes" from her and I just went to Admired state. Is that normal? Do the different relationship levels have requirements of the number of times they need to like your decisions before enhancing? Confuses me, send help.

Yep! It goes something like:
Neutral
Likes
Respects
Admires
Idolizes
True Friend/Loves (only for Caja or Nasty, and can't be both)

There are also negative states, and if they get too low they'll leave you forever.

Honestly you dont even need to travel with them. I got both Caja and Nasty to Idolize status and triggered their respective romance option without ever taking them on my travels.
Just do their personal quests and that is already enough to max their status.
Its the same with most of the other companions.

Small correction, "respects" comes before "likes". Rest is correct.

How many quests does Caja have for personal? I did two of hers and haven't done the third yet due to main campaign progression and somehow ended up somewhere between respected/liked, think I lost relationship somewhere.

I think its 6 but they are triggered by chapters. The first 2 in chapter 1, 3+4 in chapter 2 and the rest was in chapter 3. After that i had her romance confession scene and her status was "True Friend" which changed to "Love" after accepting her romance.

You can easily loose relationship with Caja in her mainquest, I forgot to bring her Mana the first time for example and she went right back to "neutral". Same goes for other companions, Falk for eg, if you screw up something in their quest, like a dialogue option, they drop to neutral even when they were on a high relationship status before. Your mainquest decisions also affect every companion, even if you don't travel with them, and so does your decision which fraction you choose.
