You may want to create a first savegame after the introduction movie. Then redo the tutorial.
Afterwards, open the ingame settings and turn off the tutorial hints, because they disturb flow of combat and playing too much. Also review other disturbing settings, such as auto-focus or aim hinting.
1) http://www.manuals.nordicgames.at/files/Elex/Elex_PC_SE_Quickstart_EFIGS_online.pdf
2) Go to ELEX\data\ini\ and edit sensitivity ConfigDefault.xml
<Input>
<Mouse SensitivityY="0.5f" SensitivityX="0.5f"
Thank you for that! Did not even know there was a manual. How does the Ini. tweaks for the mouse sensitivity vary from the regular slider in-game other than the obvious? Also, do you know of any other useful Ini. tweaks or could you direct me to where I can find them?
I saw on Nexus a mod that tweaked the ini., however, I'd like to see more opinions/options before testing it out, plus since the latest patch I'm not sure if that mod is still useful because there were changes, thanks.
BTW, just for reference

Devs are lazy those days
Those manuals aren't there anymore.
Are they uploaded somewhere else? I searched but didn't find it.

Hello THQ Nordic,
All your links for game manuals on nordicgames.at are dead, and I can find no alternative links to download them.
An example is that I'm looking for the game manual for ELEX, but have been unable to find it anywhere. It's old URL is:
http://www.manuals.nordicgames.at/files/Elex/Elex_PC_SE_Quickstart_EFIGS_online.pdf
Could you please provide new URLs for your game manuals, and could please you also upload the ELEX manual to the Steam listing for the game, so that it can be easily and reliably accessed via the entry in our Steam games list for ELEX?

As you can see in the example of the above picture, manuals for other games, such as Divinity: Original Sin, are available in Steam by right-clicking on the game's entry in a person's games list, and then selecting "View player manual".
I hope that the ELEX manual will be added to Steam in the same way, as ELEX is a unique and challenging game with many aspects to how it is intended to be played that are not obvious to the player. Without the manual or searching up various information online, ELEX becomes nearly impossible to progress in due to not knowing things like being able to get XP and ability points from elex potions - leaving the player stuck with no way to accomplish their quests until they get desperate enough to search that information up online. If the game manual was readily available, people could find that information for themselves. And there are also other examples of similar predicaments while playing ELEX.
Also, I hope that the game manual will be added to the GoG listing for ELEX in addition to the Steam listing for ELEX.
Other than the frustrations of not being able to figure out ELEX' gameplay easily due to a lack of a readily-available manual, ELEX is a great game. I look forward to the next one in the series.
Thank you,

I hope they will add the game manual to Steam and GoG.
Hey, thanks for posting that.
Too bad it doesn't actually contain any helpful information on how the game mechanics and systems work. ELEX could have used a real manual that goes over the concepts that drive the gameplay and building a character.
Maybe a brief description of the "Cold" value, the companion relationships and weapon upgrades and enhancements.
Character building is very simple, since the attributes govern the abilities you can learn and the weapons you can use. So, for example, if you want more HP, you would increase Constitution as a strict requirement of the Extra Hitpoints skill. There is a similar connection of attributes and other skills, such as Strength -> Attack Strength skill, and for some there is a requirement to raise multiple attributes. Such as Intelligence (primary) + Constitution (secondary) -> Mana skill.
If you want to browse details outside the game, the various Wikis about ELEX contain a lot:
