few questions about gems
1) can you unsocket and use again gems 2) is the yellow gem - reduction of enemy resistence - useful? someone did test this? 3) are enemies immune to x damage? (example mutant nuclear or robots can't bleed)?

You can remove gems from weapons without losing said gems whenever you want. Enemies also have certain resistances (Resistance against fire for example), but I don't think there is an enemy that is immune to a particular damage type.

I think the damage gem (Red gem) might be more useful but I could be wrong. Perhaps the yellow gem might be useful in certain situations but in my experience, I found the red gem to be more useful.

Much if not all in ELEX is about player's feeling/intuition and the gained hands on experience with the game. Give a gem combination in weapon and adjutor a try - depending on how many gems are available to you - then decide yourself. With a bit of luck you may find an early video from somebody, who has tested some things a bit (such as extra damage), but that is entirely beyond the scope of what players need to know in order to play the game.

What may be important is that you need to remove gems from a weapon before upgrading the weapon, or else the gems would be lost. Whether that is by design or an oversight has not been found out while the old official forum was still online.

Yes, lowering enemy resistances is very useful on weapons with an elemental enchantment. Say if enemy has 30 fire resist and you have a fire weapon that deals 30 damage. You will only hit it for 1 point of damage. If you have Large Yellow Gemstone installed you will do 10 damage. However, because Large Red Gemstones also give +10 damage they are basically superior. A couple balance mods realized this and nerf Large Red to +5 but keep Yellow at +10. Such a balance change means that on certain weapons against certain enemies the Yellow would be a better choice than Red. But even with such a change, if you using no enchantment or an enchant that enemies don't commonly resist (like bleed and radiation) Red is usually better.

This is what it seemed like. Thanks for confirming. I always figured that if an enemy is highly resistant to a weapon, it's better to switch it out in any case.
gems are too rare in this game so you effectively can ignore gem mechanics.
a handful of gems doesn't make much difference, the benefit is too puny

16 for each color. How many would you want instead?

How often do I find them during normal walkthrough without intentional guided gemhunting? I had less than 10 of all colors in total, it is after 70hrs walkthrough.

And I did enough exploring.

I recommend Elex Overhaul mod. It's easier to craft Large Gemstones.

yeah gems're kinda superfluous. they make things little easier but you could strip them out of game and it'd still be just as good. it'd be totally different if you absolutely needed gems to do some things at certain points in game but that isnt case :/ perhaps they'llve better thought out system in elex 2.

By the time you've found a few and have noticed how many it takes to craft a large gem, you may decide on how to proceed and, particularly, whether to invest into related abilities. All sorts of completionist players will likely start searching the world very carefully as to find all gems - and possibly the hanging pictures, too. Others won't care as much, since the gems are a completely optional feature.
