ELEX

There is an off the charts great game in here... but it is burried (possible spoilers - maybe)
There is an off the charts great game in here... possibly better than any of the Fallout games but the developers need to get out of thier own way.

The developers just seemed to have overstrutured (factions) some parts and not given other aspects enough thought (Claws). I know the hard decisions are the way this developer has made thier games in the past but if they losened tup the restrictions the game would be much more enjoyable.

Some ideas... (maybe for Elex 2)

Maybe have the ability to switch factions but have a balance between Elex, Mana and drugs that expanded or limited the abilities of each faction and have a decay rate for the injestion (detox) of each with withdrawl symptoms affecting stats.

Have the first level of faction skills be accessable before you join the factions.

Expand the claws storyline and missions (being vague here to avoid spoiling it for others) and maybe add some other hidden groups (maybe there are but I have not found them yet).

Maybe it's me... I like open world and flexibility (In the Elderscrolls games I stop when I have become the head of all the guilds and finished all the quests) but I would like to see more Elex.

Stop trying to reason with them mesal. They are hopeless fanboys. Every topic in this subforum should be full of praise otherwise you are branded as a hater and troll. Game criticism is unwanted. ;)

Mesal, while I agree that F:NV had better quests writing and structure compared to ELEX, you are just being unfair by comparing biggest quests from F:NV with smallest ones from ELEX. If you take a simple "kill 4 rotboar quest" from ELEX, why don't you compare it to "kill all deathclaws in the valley" from F:NV?
After all, joining a faction in ELEX is also a quest, and it's a damn long one.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing them again in Elex 2, considering what they say when you finish their quests

This game is really good, but it's inferior to Fallout: NV in nearly every way imaginable. Less content, shorter quests, fewer branching paths, not as much C&C, less interesting characters/factions, limited loot variety, ect.

Why do these threads always have to end up comparing two unrelated games?
This argument stemming from this is asinine and just wasting space.

Let's stay on topic and talk about ELEX FFS

Nope, still being dishonest, you are comparing apples to oranges here. The fallout one was described in great detail done by fans adding to it over the years. That fallout quest can also be easily put into simple numbered steps or to one paragraph.

This

Text from wiki :
Once the Courier offers help, they are tasked by Major Dhatri to assassinate the three Fiend leaders operating around the South Vegas ruins. Dhatri will advise against headshots, since he needs the bounties' heads as proof of their deaths. As a result, the full reward is only given for an intact head.
VioletEdit

Unlike the other Fiend leaders, Violet doesn't have Fiend henchmen; instead, she has vicious guard dogs. Her camp is due south of the Poseidon Gas Station, which is a short distance southwest of Cook-Cook's camp. Her camp is built on top of an abandoned trailer park, allowing both Violet, who will herself stand on the first floor of the middle structure, and her dogs to see you from a fair distance. The number of dogs may vary. There is a Nuka-Cola Quartz in a box on a shelf, up the ramp and to the left.

Violet is dressed in standard raider armor, and almost has the same amount of health as standard Fiend raiders. She is armed with a hunting rifle, and is fairly accurate with it. Once you acquire her head, collect your bounty from Major Dhatri.
Cook-CookEdit

Cook-Cook is the closest of the bounties to the airport, located just north of the South Vegas Ruins West Entrance in a makeshift camp built out of a broken-down building. He is surrounded by four to eight Fiends gang members, and a small brahmin herd. Cook-Cook himself is distinguished by his use of metal armor and an incinerator, as well as a flamer.

In his camp there is his Recipes - Cook-Cook's Fiend stew on a shelf or on the ground near a campfire.

Little Buster, a soon-to-be-retired bounty hunter found in McCarran, has been known to scout Cook-Cook. If you talk to him, he will reveal to you that Cook-Cook has a brahmin pet named Queenie, and that killing it can make him careless.

Once you acquire Cook-Cook's head, turn it in to Dhatri for your reward. Additional rewards can also be gained by speaking to corporal Betsy at McCarran (or Forlorn Hope if Nephi is already killed) and Pretty Sarah in Westside (in the Casa Madrid Apartments), who will reward you for your "service to humanity".
Driver NephiEdit

Driver Nephi is the farthest away of the three, located northwest of the Samson Rock Crushing Plant. He will be guarded by some unfriendly Fiends, usually more than Cook-Cook would have. Like Violet, Driver Nephi is not particularly tough because he wears raider armor and is armed with a melee weapon. However, Nephi's skill with his namesake golf club is considerable.

Prior to this portion of the quest, you can speak with Lieutenant Gorobets to request that he assemble the sniper team known as 1st Recon at the Samson Rock Crushing Plant. They will take up position at the plant, and will fire upon Nephi if you lure him into range. Merely assembling them is enough to get a 300-cap bonus, even if you don't let them take a shot at Nephi. They tend to kill with headshots, so they may prevent you from getting the full reward if hired. They will set five frag mines along their path to the plant. Once you acquire Nephi's head, claim your bounty from Major Dhatri.
ConclusionEdit

Major Dhatri, with all the major Fiend leaders gone, will express his relief and thank the Courier heavily, for undertaking a task that seemed nearly impossible. As a result of not needing more manpower to keep the Fiends in check, Dhatri will move the entire 1st Recon to Camp Forlorn Hope.

And ALL you need to do in this quest is to kill 3 marked npc. Just LOL.

That quest is more complex than just going to the quest marker and killing an NPC like in Elex.

You could do that, or you could shoot Cook Cook's brahmin and cause him to fight his own men to the death. Or organize an ambush of Driver Nephi with NCR force recon. It's these type of alternative solutions that makes the quest design superior.

You can kill cleric in zerkers town or help him to escape.
You can kill outlaw near zerkers town or persuade his supplier to work with him again or report to Angrim about that supplier.
You can kill guy with 3 extractor parts or steal them from him or give them to him.

Not an "alternative solutions" for you ?

Suuuure.

I'm not triggered, but apparently YOU are because you're STILL HERE and jumping into every thread possible so you can whine about how much you hate the game.

THAT, is what is "TRIGGERED"

You're so obsessed and triggered by people liking this game, that you have to take every opportunity available to let people know CONSTANTLY how Triggered you are by your hate for this game.

The only TRIGGERED person is you.
Everybody else that hated this game has moved on, but here you are, faithfully staying here, because every post about this game TRIGGERS you.

All I know is I've played Fallout: New Vegas and ELEX and greatly prefer ELEX. Their scale and scope has set a new bar for the handcrafted open-world RPG from here on out, IMO.

ELEX is my favorite open-world RPG, maybe ever, but definitely since Skyrim.

I played Elex and I played FONV.

I like them both because they both did for me, what they set out to do.

I don't know why people have to pointlessly argue over which game is better, because it's not only stupid, it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Who cares?
Each game has it's strengths and weaknesses, and I enjoyed both for what they were.

Please. Us zealous fanboys just understand that PB already works miracles with their budget and 29 person team. What do you expect really?

Some gamers are just too jaded and expect stuff beyond miracles. Where are the other massive open-world RPGs 3 times or more the size of Skyrim that are nearly as good and made by a fraction of what the big devs have for resources? Spoiler - There ain't none.

Hopefully PB improves the game and I'm 1000%, no, 2000% sure they will. But let's have realistic expectations at the same time. Sheesh.

This is where someone is bound to chime in "well they should make the game a lot smaller, but higher quality!" Yeah, no. We don't want a 30 hour super tightly knit RPG, that's the point. There's plenty of those on the market already. This is a mega sprawling epic in a huge world with intense complexity for the size. There is room for different experiences such as this on the market.

I expected better quest design, C&C, progression, balancing, immersion, handplaced loot, and scheduling.

I'm very forgiving of outdated graphics and bad animations. I can even overlook the many contraditcting details and writing errors in the game. However as a niche product that advertises itself on classic RPG elements, I thought they could of done a lot better.

Certain elements are quite good for a small development team (other elements are reflectively terrible), but Fallout: New Vegas was also made on a very small budget and was only given 18 months of development time. It did everything better in my opinion.

I'm not jaded by this game. I paid full price and don't regret my purchase. Still dissapointed in how underwhelming a lot of the core selling points were.

So in other words, you expected even more miracles than what they already pulled off.

How many people worked on New Vegas? Obsidian has hundreds of employees. And an engine already made by Bethesda. And the countless other ways the megalithic corporation Bethesda helped them (publishing, marketing, etc.)

However, my point still stands. If you want to point me to an open-world RPG 3 times or more the size of Skyrim that has better RPG elements, a handcrafted world, choices and consequences and more, I'm open to suggestions. Let us know where this immaculate gem is so I can go buy it right now.

And it should be made by 30 people or less. :)
