Molochs are tough
I found one in the quest to find a murderer. He also had a few other creatures with him. He was right beside a farm and the farmers paid him no mind, apparently.

I brought Duras up there, and kited the Moloch into the farm. I jetpacked up on a building to watch.

The Moloch killed Duras and every farmer and proceeded to run around the building I was on for all eternity.

I reckon I won't bother Molochs again for a long while...

In close combat they're pretty deadly, yes. Even later their attacks really hurt, but even early you can somewhat cheese them. Get some weapon with a DoT-effect (Snakebite at Sinda's shop or Regent Energy Sword II in the mausoleum's basement can both get the job done). Make use of the single-use Alb-spells like Force Push and Power Wave. Molochs have no ranged attacks like many of the other mutants so use that to your advantage.

Like... let the moloch attack, evade to a side, use force push, land a full combo, jump to a roof or some other elevated position and wait for the cooldown on FP to wear off and repeat. This can help you kill lots of the bigger monsters somewhat early. Also, take Caja as a companion. Her attacks are more powerful.
