Too Hard.
I love this game, but it's so hard...
I wonder if the devs have even played their own game.
I mean I'm trying to level up but EVERY enemy defeats me with 1-2 hits, while I need 20 hits...
I am level 6 now, got 40 on strength, got a proper sword and a hunter armor, but cant even kill Hornwolfs... How am I supposed to level up? Even if I try to do quest, e.g.: the quest where I have to find the dudes bow. It's protected by 2 mutants. They kill me with two hits. I tried to bait them to the hunters, so they would help me. And they do indeed, but they one hit the guy who gave me the quest. On one hand they are undefeatable, on the other hand I risk to loose the guy who gave me the quest. I need tips please

And yes I played Gothic 1,2 & 3 and they were great and felt balanced. This game feels just weird

I can change difficulty? How?
That quest with the bow was easy for me. I approached it from the Goliet mountain side. I shot a mutant with my bow and they went crazy and ran off to try to find a path to me (30m up the cliff, not gonna happen). I quickly dropped in and picked up the bow, then quickly jetpacked up and out of there. Then I lost aggro and returned the bow. Don't try to fight them at your level. Just use your brain.

The Bow Quest I just jumped down (with jetpack) from the spot nearest to it, grabbed the bow and Jetpacked out. Didn't bother fighting them. Its a little easier if you have a companion to distract them while you steal it. Its not too hard to run them off.

Combat gets much easier once you can use upgraded weapons. Before that avoid fighting anything with a skull icon.

I already got the hunter's armor so I can already face some basic bandits and monsters in 1vs1

I am looking forward to returning to the areas that I have already visited within 30 hours and annihilate all life that crosses me

The game is not meant to be easy and it requires a lot more than going on and hitting things to death. You start as a weakling and you have to make your way up. Be smart about your decission, avoid fighting until you're strong enough, talk to people and do easy quests first.

Also getting a companion might help you a lot as well.

You have to be around level 10 and some combat focus to win melee against easy enmies without wasting too much time. Running or range weapon + good position also works very well if the enemy can't shoot back. But without the right skills its a time consuming action without real rewards (few xp and ~10 Elexit in loot).
I dont know what to say, Im playing on Ultra and Im fine.

I agree in this game you start weak, but we can't forget that the main character is reovering from Elix withdrawl. Over time your character would get stronger the more time that passes. Also the shot to the abdomin in the beginning of the game was never treated so we can safley assume that the protagonist had a hidden wound for most of the early game thus making him weak.

If it is too hard, then you are too weak.

I'm level 11 now, joined the clerics and can fight a whole group of bandits if I do it right. The game starts out pretty hard but the thing is the character is not an all-mighty-power-fantasy hero like in skyrim. Just mind were you go and use the easier quests to level up. Once you can use the higher tier weaponry it gets pretty doable and u don't have to run from every encounter anymore.

Also i play on hard except for combo meter (because without combos u do no damage at all), because I found I could cheese the combat against humanoid enemies too much on normal difficulty.

I don't think you're supposed to beat many enemies at that level. I started fighting at level 10 or even later. Also, as soon as you join a faction, things get better. I'm now lvl 30 and Regent at the clerics and the game is a breeze on ultra. Just don't try to fight enemies too early. Also, respect if they are marked with a skull besides their HP. Try to do quests that don't involve fighting or if there are enemies, avoid fighting, just run. I suggest you to travel to each faction/city once, before joining a faction. That way you can gather as much xp as possible. Also you can't do every quest as soon as you get it. I stalled some quests I got at the beginning until I got like 20 levels more.
Btw. attributes don't really have much impact, they affect stats, but very minor. They are mostly for (un-)locking skills. Skils and equip matter.

Edit: One thing I forgot: Get a companion as soon as possible. Makes things really easier. Probably Duras is most suitable for the beginning.

The game is hard by intention. At start, dont bother to kill much, except if you are an expert player, and run a lot with your jetpack, and explore and exploit the world, this gives you enough items and a foot into the door to start the game with, and you have money to get into a stable situation with proper equipment. (do this again if you feel poor at any point in the game).

Do the easy quests, visit the other Areas, not only of your favourite faction, even in the beginning, as soon as you feel ready with an area and dont find anymore things to do there.
Visit the big towns, of every part of magalan, and use high ground to surpass the animals everywhere. (not TOO high though there is radiation).
The trick is to get the first like 15 levels by this approach, quests and exploring, then upgrade your weapon as much as you can carry, and start to punch back.

This is a wrath story, so at start you are weak and PREPARE for everything, while unseen by the alps. Later, the tide turns and you wipe the map when your weapon is good enough (70-100 damage). With level8, I STARTED to be able to do some killing quests on isolated targets, if the persons didn't have a body guard or so. And STARTED to be able to kill weak critters :-)
Depending on how you play: EXPLORING the world is an incredible genious experience!
Magalan is beautiful! WOW!
