Fire vs Ice vs Poison vs Energy vs Psi vs Radioactive vs Reflector vs Gore
Can't find info anywhere on what each of these damage types is useful against or what special properties each has, beyond obvious ones like poison is DoT effect. Especially curious about weird ones like "Reflector". I mean some of them I can take a guess at based on classic RPG tropes but would be nice to really know for sure...

Anyone know more details on these?

Well the main thing is that if you change the type of damage, it changes what resists that damage. For example a Radioactive weapon will go against radioactive defense instead of armor rating.

From my testing of Outlaw upgrades...

Radiaton also puts some sort of Debuff on the target but I can't tell you specifically what that debuff does. Its not a DoT though. I used a Radiation Chainsaber against all types of foes and had no trouble damaging them. Was worried mutants or robots would be immune but didn't seem to be the case.

Bleeding upgrade is obvious. It puts a very noticable DoT effect on target.

Reflector I have yet to figure out. Doesn't seem to reflect damage at the enemy. Don't think it raises armor either.

Yeah it would be helpful to know what kind of enemies have which kinds of defenses then. It seems like almost any effect is better than pure physical damage really but still would be nice to know which one to pick.

I love this game but if I had one major complaint it would be the lack of in-game data, about even basic stuff like how much HP you have, so probably will never know what these effects do unless a dev comes out and states it at some point :(.

Off the top of my head:

Energy has a good DoT effect
PSI improves damage per hit
Radiation lowers stamina IIRC

One of the weapons (Reflector Morning Star I) with a Reflector property directly says "This weapon reflects a small amount of damage back on the enemy when you are attacked" in the weapon's description text.

However, in testing I saw nothing of the sort. I let an enemy beat on me directly, tried parrying, and tried timed parries, and they never took any damage, nor did I notice any increase in my defense. I even tried hitting them once then letting them hit me back to see if it was a debuff or something, and saw no effect.

This leads me to believe Reflector is just bugged, and therefore useless.

Radioactive certainly makes a green glowy effect on whatever you hit, but I couldn't tell if it was doing anything in particular. It didn't lower the number of hits it took to kill the enemy compared to the base weapon so it doesn't seem to be lowering armor, it didn't lower the damage they dealt to me, and as far as I could tell their stamina was unaffected.

The only Outlaw effect I could see was doing anything was Gore (bleeding), though it was pretty pathetic damage (at least against the NPC I was testing against - the Camp Master of the Fort) compared to Poison or Fire.

Starting to think for Outlaws that Socketed may not be a bad idea after all, as they kinda got the shaft on the special effects compared to things like Energy, Fire, and Poison.

radiation decrease enemy's attack damage.

Energy does increased damage to robots, and a DoT.
Fire, Poison and Gore are pure DoTs.
Ice does DoT and slightly slows enemies.
Radiation debuffs damage.
Stasis stops or debuffs stamina regen.
Not sure about PSI, possibly just bypasses all resist.

Ice has no DoT.
Also most enchaned weapons actually change their damage type and may prove to be not effective against certain enemies. Fire against rippers (lizards) or poison against spiders, for example.
