Death of a genius ( Help )

After the big bang quest you're told to kill him, but i'm going to choose the clerics side and honestly i don't want to kill him he's an alright guy so my question is why is he a main mission quest i dont see any point in killing in except the 3000 reward and also when i kill him it says the death of this character will change the story and i hate that message so help is there anyway to spare him or is it nessacary to complete the game any help would be great thanks!

You can tell the Duke to go and kill him himself and doing that will spare the cleric's life, but the Duke won't like it, which will have an effect on the story as well.

I think this is what's causing Logan to be untalkable to at the epilogue.

Next time I play this game I'll deliberatly leave it unsolved.

without spoiling it he really didn't make anything that destructive and when you sort it out his sin is almost null
