It says LAN Coop. One person must host a game. Make it private if you don't want random players or Steam friends joining. Other players on the same LAN need to go to the Local tab in the Lobby Select screen and click on the IP address that appears to join.

It would be nice to have couch coop mode, like worms. 4 players maybe.

Sorry to hijack, but is local multiplayer using offline mode no longer useable? Keeps telling us to be in online mode with steam to play. Have been playing the game without issue using this method that you guys suggested in a post last year but it doesn't work anymore. Still use the online computer to host the game but the offline one can no longer connect. If you try to reverse and host offline you get an authentication error on the online computer. This has effectively killed local coop with my son.

@Milkchops I don't think I have made any changes that would affect your use case, and I have just tested it successfully. I'm assuming you're talking about connection by clicking on the IP address in the Local tab. The Online tab will always suggest connecting to Steam when in Offline mode.

I have identified a LAN connection issue, however. If the PC you are connecting from has multiple IP interfaces, it will only attempt connection on the first one. If that's not on the subnet the host is on the connection will fail. You can see your IP interfaces by starting a command prompt (cmd), then running ipconfig.

I could not reproduce the authentication error, and I'm interested in investigating. I've sent a friend request to get more information.

Just posting a reply to let anyone who has or had a similar issue to what I expressed above. There was a version mismatch on the offline PC which manifested as this issue. Checking the console on the host computer after attempting to connect with the offline computer said there were differing versions between the host and offline PC. The offline PC just said to login to Steam (presumably to allow an update).

Updating Forts on the offline PC resolved the issue and allowed us to play with one copy locally on two PCs. Thanks for your help BeeMan and I'm happy to report that we are able to play locally again using the method mentioned previously (linked below for any interested).

I'm going to stump for the Moonshot DLC now to support you guys since I feel you more than deserve it.

Cheers
