Game doesnt start properly
Hello Forts Dev Team,

since yesterday, Forts crahes in a very weird way.
The Screen starts flickering, even the Steam Hub, and seconds later the game crashes.
What i have done so far:
Checked the files via Steam, nothing found
Reinstalled the game, didn´t help
So i am clueless, what can i do?

My Cursor starts to flicker/blink like crazy and then my game crashes without any crash report generated. I could play yesterday. Tryed the same things (restart Steam/Pc; reinstalled on another harddrive etc) nothing worked for me :(

At least i am not the only one, i also updated the geforce driver to 3.6...
Now the flickering is gone but the game still doenst start. The words earthwork games etc are not white and clear, they are grey and blurry

Does one of you guys know how to get the attetion of the dev team to this discussion?

Yeah Forts was working fine yesterday now it stutters, freezes then stops responding.

Maybe its the Windows Updates due to "WannaCry" ?

In the Meantime i got it to run more or less, after i had trouble updating Geforce Experience from 3.4 to 3.6 and a lot of troubleshooting later. I deleted Gef Exp 3.4, set my Pc to an earlier Backup point (before all the Windows updates 12.5.17). I managed Forts to start, but the colours looked like bleached and a bit blurry :D

My screen now flickers as well. The game doesn't crash, but that flicker.., I thought maybe it was a problem with the steam overlay. Turned that off and nope, doesn't fix it. Any ide how to fix it Devs?

I changed the way it selects the pixel format. I got an identical report from someone where it's selecting a 64 bit colour depth. Can you look in your Forts/users/<Name>/log.txt and search for "pixel format", then ColorBits?

If this is the case, open up settings.lua and add the following lines below the others:

AutoResolution = false,
BitsPerPel = 32,
ViewHeight = 1080,
ViewWidth = 1920,

You can change ViewHeight and ViewWidth to suit your resolution.

Let me know how it goes. If I can confirm it I'll issue a hotfix asap.

Doesn't look like the above approach will fix the problem. Hotfix coming.

Hotfix update is available - restart Steam to force it. Let us know if it helps.

My game works perfectly while it’s loading, but in the menu and in the game, there is some big as glitchy line of black cutting off 1/4 of the screen, and when I do shift-tab to open the steam menu, it cuts it off and I can’t see ♥♥♥♥.

Can you check for GPU driver updates?

Almost every single time someone gets that problem it's either an older driver or a corrupted driver, and updating/reinstalling fixes it.
