Forts
Building is unbelievably frustrating.
The "physics" are massively wonky at times, where building out a little bit can cause everything to collapse if you don't connect everything in time and even with it connecting in time it still falls to the ground breaking.

You can't easily build a large enough room to house larger objects since the standard "box" building won't let anything fit, and trying to make your own large box is frustrating.

It's so easy to click the wrong thing, want to pull out a wall? Well too bad because you accidently clicked a joint instead.

Can't even put up a basic door since it falls over on it's self, so building weapons outside your base is pointless half the time.

All this building ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ combined with getting shot at makes the game less of a stragety game and just a chore.

Did you learn how to "extrude" a box? Grab the middle of a strut and pull it out. With a little practice it works fine.

Watch some of Incursus' videos to see how you can build neat, stable forts:

If you watch a few videos you can see how experienced builders simplify things and build very quickly. I would recommend Project Incursus as one of the best. Couple tips though.

Objects don't actually have to fit completely inside a box. The strut you place them on must be FG (foreground) bracing which cannot overlap an object. But objects can overlap any amount of BG (background) bracing. So a tall object like an Armoury can be placed on one box and occupy the box above it as well. Placing will automatically convert FG to BG when it is possible, but FG currently holding up an object cannot be converted.

Instead of making a door by clicking on a node and making it as a single strut, it's much easier to drag-build (extrude) it. You can also convert an existing strut into a door by selecting the door material from the toolbar and then clicking on a node and dragging it to another node in the same way as building. You can also right click on a strut and convert it to another material. Zooming all the way in with the scroll wheel will help quite a bit with fine control for selections.
