Can this game be played as a 'couch co-op' game?
Been looking for something to stream to my television when I have friends over.

Is this game a 'Split Screen/Local co-op' game or can I forget about inviting a few friends over and playing this with 4 on the same screen?

Cheers

There is no splitscreen yet and I dont think this would be nice to play. On a splitscreen you could exactly see where the enemy is building stuff and thats like having spooks active on all the time. That would take half the fun off the game.

There is local coop though so for a LAN-Party its suitable.

Well I meant : can I play this game with 3 or so friends on the same screen, not in split screen per sé as i think it is turn based right?

So could 4 friends do a 2v2 on one screen taking turns?

Not turn based, real time strategy

Ah nice, I thought it was turn based!

So to get back to my question : can me and 3 friends play this on the same computer? I.E. no LAN no Online crap, just one PC and one screen?

Cheers

Nope. 1 screen, 1 player, thats it

Ah, too bad, this would be an awesome party game on a single screen.

Cheers guys.

You could play it as a turned based strategygame though .... You could say something like:

Each turn you have X Metals and X Energy to spend depending on your amount of mines/turbines - you may only use X amount of Tier1 weapons Y Tier2 weapons or Z tier3 weapons each round etc. There is no rulebook for that but you could make one up yourself.

But that only if you would play the game how it is supposed to be played normally. if you just want it for friends that come over thats not the right choice.

Further question. If I buy the game, is there a way to family share with myself on another computer, in the same house, connected to the same internet, so I can play versus my buddy without having to buy 2 of the same game. Kinda local pvp like I used to love back in the old days. Nothing better than trash talking a friend to their face, and then maybe eating some burgers on the grill. While saying things about their mom. lol I have a drawing tablet that might have enough juice to run it. Seems like if it's possible it might be a fun thing to do. Some competitive spirit. Plus if we teamed up on online multiplayer, co op, it might be nice to test each other first, and build our strategies, and get used to each other's play styles, and the system itself.

Yes, you can launch one (or both) in offline mode, and join them using the Local tab in the Multiplayer menu.

Holy crap... why have I never thought of this before? This will work for most games right?! The only disadvantage would be hours and achievements won't count but still! BeeMan, you have helped me greatly. I'll probably buy Forts tomorrow just because of this (kinda) loophole you gave me.

Sure thing. I don’t know how common it is for games to allow direct connection over LAN without Steam, but we do.
