Need help with Character skill builds and gear progression
Hi everyone,

I have just bought dragon quest heroes and I played awhile and really like the game.
Right now, I am at the space ship that I can travel to various place.
I will need some help with character skill build and gear progression. Right now I am pretty confuse.

I am unsure how to spent my skill point wisely.
Which character should add which skill, attribute, special effect?
Which character should add strength? which character should add wisdom?
Is there any character build guides or is anyone able to provide me some beginner guide?
I heard wisdom add magic damage? what exactly is magic damage?

I don't want to add wrongly as I want to make best use of my characters and resetting of skills points requires coins.

Right now, I have 6 characters. I am not sure which 4 I should bring out to battle.
I afraid to waste effort lvling a weaker character.
Aurora is my main.

Next, is on gear progression.
Which character should I spent coins to buy new gears for him/her?
What kind of receipt I should learn and what accessories I should made?

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

With the ability to respec, so far I haven't really tried to min/max anything, I just learn all their skills/spells, increased deftness (crits), the first 2 rows of stats boost, their unique skill (like heal etc) and skills that improve their main spells/skills. Works well for me.
As for gear I just upgrade with the best stuff for the main 4 chars I use. I also main Aurora and use Terry + Jessica, both will have a perma spot in my party I think and final char I'm not sure as I don't have everyone and if the need arises for a special skill I might have to switch anyway.

Hi Aisuga,

Thanks for reply. I also added deftness too but is the cri rate really good?
I have make a mistake on two of my character which I added the stats enhancer under 'character exclusive' category which is a waste of skill points as I should add in under 'Attribute' category which cost less skill points.
What should I do? respect is pretty costly 1600 coins for me.

Further, What is wisdom?? which character I should add wisdom instead of strength?

My final main 4 I think should be Aurora, Terry, Bianca and Jessica. (Only has 6 char right now.)

There are 2 upgrades for deftness and from what I heard once you have both it does make a difference. I only have the first atm, so I can't confirm.
1600 coins might seem a lot at first, but soon it will be easy to afford it. After doing a full gear refresh I still have about 50k and I'm only lvl25. Money is easy to come by. I would wait a bit, there's no hurry with respec'ing, the game is easy at low lvl, then once you can afford it, respec your chars.
Wisdom is magic damage. But since every character seem to have both phys and magic skills, I don't think doing a pure strength or magic build is a good idea. Keep them balanced for now, if later in the game it becomes better to specialize, you will be able to respec them anyway.

I've had good success with ignoring stat increases and just picking up all the abilities and boosts until later in the game. Finished it on PS4 that way and am currently doing so again.

Getting both deftness abilities along with the MP restore on crit (to go with any character specific MP restore on crit skills), the attack boost on crit and the faster tension buildup equates to a lot of special ability usage and great damage output. With Nera I can drop an Endless Maelstrom, Endless Miracle Moon, spam her bubbles and not only wreck whatever was unfortunate enough to be inside the maelstrom, but also wind up with a good chunk of tension (if not filling it) and most/all of my mana. Assuming it was used on more than 3 enemies of course. The synergy is there, just gotta invest into it and figure out how to make it work.

You can't really go wrong. The game is quite easy for most of the game and whenever it starts getting tough you'll have enough points to have made solid characters. And if not you'll have plenty of money to respec :D

Thanks a lot of reply Mr Ringo and Aisuga. Anyway to gain money early?
I am just gona respec immediately on my main char. Is so annoying seeing that character exclusive stats enhancer being added which cost more than the attribute section.
