Honestly, it's up to you. I think I'll probably go the Enhanced route on my next replay as I really don't see any reason not to and it avoids any DOSBox glitchiness, etc. Whether I use mouselook or original controls is yet to be determined.
It features better resolution, bug fixes, mouselook, and it doesn't run out of DOS which yeah, it would record better.
I bought teh original but found the controls too much to handle. All I wanted to do was get into the game, but it was, learn this, learn that. I just gave up.
Is the enhanced version more player friendly?
So it's still a complicated interface by today's standard, but Enhanced does simplify it as much as possible. For example, they changed "E" into a toggle for mouselook so you can look around as in most modern shooters without needing to use the more antiquated keyboard or point-and-click interface to look up/down, and there's also a more standard WSAD configuration for movement. A lot of the interface (inventory, cybernetic upgrades, etc.) is still point and click, etc., but that just takes some getting used to.
To sum it up, it's still more complex than an average FPS, but much more accessible with the mouselook toggle. I think with a little time with it, you should get a handle on things. IMO, it's worth it, but as always, your mileage may vary.
EDIT: I see the game i had was System Shock 2. Sorry.
I think I have given up on it to be honest. I guess everyone knows, but there is a re-boot of System Shock coming out next year. I think it's worth waiting for.
Yeah, if 2 was too much for you, I don't think you'll have much luck wiht 1. They are FANTASTIC games, but you do have to learn the interfaces to enjoy them. I still think it's well worth it, but you're the only one who can judge that for yourself.
I'm excited that the remaster will make one of my all-time favorite games fresh and more playable for a whole new audience.
I totally respect your opinion because that's exaclty the way I feel. I am also too very much looking forward to the System Shock reboot.
the enhanced version feells better afftterr thhee original
