This game originally is a DOS game from 1994. Which you can still play since buying Systemshock EE gives you classic.
You don't need the source engine for this and it didn't use an ID Tech engine like Doom.
So you are good to go and play it
Doesn't need an engine from the early 2000s to run the game nor the Systemshock game engine would handle source Engine
Source port is just another way of saying bringing and old games source code up to date
An example of a source port would be like Half life and Half Life Source
Half life is built on GldSrc which is a modified Quake Engine
HL Source was ported to the Source Engine
I hope you will understand this
I can get your confusion.
Ah thanks. For explaining that.
