Shooting the laser glitch HELP
I need help guys, im not sure what happened, but i've retraced my actions multiple times. i've planted the shield isotope and entered the laser override access code, which i looked up to find since i missed it in the level 2 library section. Prior to finding the code i found the laser firing room on level 2, i fired the laser without having the shield turned on and i recieved zero prompt from shodan, from what i've gathered this prompts her to say that i destroyed the earth? after this i found the isotope and turned on the shields, but the laser firing button is permanently activated and i cannot press it again help!!

Yes, you are correct. Firing the laser without the shields up usually leads to a 'cutscene' showing the laser hitting earth, followed by the end of your game. I can't imagine not getting that cutscene and being able to continue being anything else than a bug - albeit a rather gamebreaking one.

Just to clarify, the things to do to get the laser destroyed: Pick up X-22, insert X-22 in receptacle on level R, start the shield on level R, enter override code, then fire the laser with the button in the center room on floor 2 after Shodan ambushes you when backtracking from R to 2.

But it seems like you're telling us about a very different beast, actually, with the button permanently stuck there will be no way to prompt Shodan to start the virus questline and I cannot imagine a way to continue from there.

The only good thing about your mishap is that, when you know where to go and what to do, you will not need longer than an hour to replay the game up to that point - which is the only thing that will let you progress from what you're telling us, I'm afraid.

Best of luck and sympathies for whatever you choose to do - I'd think it is worth it to start anew, but obviously this scenario is far less than preferable to fixing your save. Might there be a chance to acquire a save file from the webs or someone on this forum?

Thank for the reply i really appreciate it, i decided to just fess up and play the game from the beginning again. Its a great game, but i was too lazy to start a new game, but whatever. It looks like the glitch i encountered was gamebreaking since it never prompted shodan to say i destroyed the earth. Thanks for your input!
