Ya, EDF2 had quite a few enemies that never really came back, like the centipede, but also those armadillo like enemies, and those DAMN REFLECTORS
EDF2 does to this day have one of the most varied enemy lists in the franchise - though EDF4.1 comes really, really close. EDF4.1 tends to have more actual escalation, in my opinion, with more enemy "tiers" than EDF2.
Still, if the D3Publisher folks are to be believed, if EDF4.1 does well we could get the two Vita EDF titles here on Steam, which were EDF3Portable (which added a few more missions as well as Pale Wing [which utterly and totally breaks the game, but in a good way]) and EDF2Portable2, which is a Vita port of the PSP port of EDF2, and is really, REALLY good. EDF2Portable2 adds in Air Raider to the EDF2 roster, minus the ability to spawn vehicles - but all his artillery powers are intact, and are totally awesome to use in an EDF2 setting.
Note that BOTH of the Vita titles had Online Multiplayer, so it'd basically be a giant whopping MOUNTAIN of awesome - plus, we'd get the Centipedes back!
