The ability to wipe out half the map in one shot is pretty OP imo

Yeah except that the ranger is amazing.

Ranger is boring, but I would never say it's the worse. To be honest, I wouldn't even say it's boring until you're late game and all the fun toys become less feasible.

Ranger is weird in that it's the best character to learn the game, and it's good at low difficulty. When the going gets rought though, he quickly get outclassed on most aspects by the other classes and suffer from a lack of mobility and as such, a lack of durability. Explosives also considerably lose their effectiveness as time goes.

Still, it's fun to play as, and I always enjoy playing as him even after all this time, assuming the mission doesn't involves a lot of movement. I'm always happy when I can just use an assault rifle and a grenade launcher and go to town without a care in the world.

That's funny, because that's how I'd describe Wing Diver.

Just like Ranger, she's good online as long as she has backup to cover her weaknesses against most hard content, but solo she can be a pain.

Ranger is awsome on levels with many friendly troops, just need those healing boxes and they will survive with you to the end :)

It takes a while before the Wing Diver meets a strong opposition preventing her to do her job efficiently. But when it happens, it really makes you question yourself(usually it's in hardest). You have Deroys completely shutting you down at close range, fortresses you no longer can murder alone safely due to the canon batteries and suddently air targets can stunlock you with ease and drop you like a rock. Makes you completley change your approach as a result. Still, it doesn't remove the Wing Diver's sheer killing capacity.

Ranger, on the other hand, never really get that oompf that makes him a true killer, at least never for very long(limited ammo weapons can kinda do that, but well, you know...). Toting sniper rifles still plague you with very long reloads. Rockets meet a spot where they are no longer one hit kill machines, and can cause more problem than they solve. Same for grenade launchers.

Ranger needed some love, but he only got it in EDF 5 from what I heard.

You know, I'm thinking it would be funny, albeit probably quite broken, if the Ranger had a Bayonetta kind of system when if he dodge an attack by rolling just at the right time, he reloads his weapon instantly. That would open a lot of interesting gameplay options and crazyness.

Ants and spiders never break 2000 hp offline, so Stingray MF remains a oneshot until the end.

As for online? Yeah, duh. If stingray oneshot things online what would even be the point of other classes? They fly 3000 meters with high speed, accuracy, and blast area.

EDF4's online was intended to be a Co-operative experience. An example of this is UMAZ, which reload is too long unless you dual wield it. How do you dual wield a grenade launcher? Like this:

https://youtu.be/3UsSWDjatjI

Reload your other launcher between shots, and now you have infinite grenade launcher ammo.

Okay, but 2500 damage is still weak right? Well yes, but actually no. Stuff a 50% power assist gun on that dual wielding UMAZ ranger and there's your precious oneshot back. Co-op!

Is Ranger weak? No.

Is Ranger in trouble online when abandoned by his team? Sometimes, but if his team is doing a good job the option of sniping from the rear lines is always helpful.

:emofdr: the real irony is despite the upgrades ranger got he still the hardest character to use in EDF5. Still its nice he got more tricks up his sleeve. Next buffs he needs is mountain climbing abilities.

Sprint at 150% of your normal speed. Swap to your best Fang rifle. Clear the entire line of enemies.....

Dont forget the 3rd slot items, vehicles and c70.
Some items increase the npc”c healing.

Still the simplest class. But Not the strongest.

Playing a medic ranger is fun too.

To be fair, all the classes are pretty bad when solo compared to when in a group. The ranger is just explicitly designed as a Jack. He's explictly designed to be boring compared to the other classes.
