Bonus map pack
There is a bonus map pack available for Stronghold Legends on Firefly Studio's website but the map pack is an executable that don't recognize a Steam installation of the game. Anyone knows for sure if the map pack already come with this Steam version?

Steam version comes without bonus pack but there is a solution to get it working.

read the last post http://stronghold.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forum/display.cgi?action=ct&f=26,3755,150,all

dont forget to change the path to "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\Stronghold Legends" or whatever

and use \\ instead of \ like above

Wonderful, it works perfectly. I went from 79 maps to 92 : )
Thanks a lot.

Rytawi, you're missing the first line and the empty one after: without it, windows won't recognize the file as a registry script.

Then, put StrongholdLegends.exe (uppercases) in path, cause that's how the executable is named inside the folder.

It actually works, it also adds a new trail. Thanks.

OK, I followed all the directions --even made sure I had the first line and the empty one after, and put StrongholdLegends.exe in upper case. Other than that the notepad looked just like Rytawi's (above). When I double-clicked the notepad file I had just created (having saved it as a .reg file) it was accepted as a registry entry without incident. However when I tried to install the Bonus map setup.exe file it went as far as the Setup Wizard and then stopped 'cause it said I had to install Stronghold Legends first.

So (of course) I rebooted, thinking that would make the new registry line work. It didn't. So what's the next trick?

I guess there's no solution, darn it! I tried twice more, creating a new .reg file & checking for typos, etc., making sure the path was absolutely correct, made the StrongholdLegends.exe file look exactly like that. Even moved the Bonus Pack setup folder to the Stronghold Legends folder in Steam before trying to execute the setup. So far nothing has worked, but the good news is that my computer doesn't seem to have gone berserk either, what with the new .reg files.

Be sure that there's an empty line at the bottom as well.
Or maybe win8 uses some other registry sintax or format, I don't know: worked fine for me on win7/64.

There seems to have been no problem with executing the registry edit -- did it at least 3 times and always got the note that the registry changes have been accepted; my old rig runs Vista, but that's supposed to be compatable with the regedit that was used. Maybe the file containing the registry change has to be somewhere specifically? Mine still resides in my documents folder. I did move the folder containing the bonus pack update to the ... Steam/SteamApps/common/Stronghold Legends/ folder, but that didn't help. The setup wizard still says that I have to have Legends installed before I can install the bonus pack -- i.e., the wizard doesn't recognize the registry change.

Run regedit and check if the path's changed. If not, chance it manuallly. That's what the script's supposed to do: if it doesn't work, do it yourself.

Have got regedit running. The entry for Stronghold Legends (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths) is:

(Default): C:\\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Stronghold Legends\StrongholdLegends.exe

Path: C:\\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Stronghold Legends

Both entries are type: REG_SZ.

I do notice that some paths to other games are in a different area of the registry.

If it is still relevant..

Why are there two \\ after C:? My regedit (win7 64bit) looks the same but with only one \ after C:

\\ should only be in the .reg file.

Maybe that's the fault. Try to change it manually by double-clicking.

There is much easier way to do this. just download this zip folder and extract the files in "stronghold legends\maps". Steam doesn't like links, so copy and remove the quotes from the address. This should work. link: "https://www.mediafire.com/file/rbddgem38imkcmu/Stronghold_legends_bonus_maps.zip/file"
