Also you need to keep in mind this one favors/requires more focus on weapon/armor production, where you'll tend to need more of each than you would in Stronghold 2, since units can get ganked so easily.

Another thing worth noting is don't be afraid to reload, as I've seen this game force melee units back into guard mode and thus ignore ladders and enemies right next to them.

As for estates the best advice is set them to a simple resource as the AI is stupid as hell and ale for instance it will build way more hop farms than breweries and thus lock the stockpile and never reach whatever amount it wants to send.
