anyone having issues with the remastered? (crashes)
I've been trying to play the game lately and it's being very bugging; not even that far into the story and the game has already crashed on me twice, is anyone else experiencing problems with this? as in frequent crashes?

This game is one of many bad pc ports. I have gone through so many crashes on this game that I took a break from it for a couple of months. I can't really help you fix this crash cause I still experience them today. Maybe some of the others might help you with the issue.

Understandable, got to remember that it is a better old game too. thanks anyways.

Wish I could help, but uhm... With me the game won't even launch. Or well. it seems to try to launch by showing that little splash window on desktop and starting to consume 10% of my CPU. But it never goes beyond that.

There are many people posting solutions to the problems with this game, but none of them work consistently. I had to delete the BioshockSHD ini file and delete all unused saved points and autosaves AND never quicksave (F11). But its too unpredictable. To make it worse, Steams super shady about their refunds. If you have over 2 hours in game time, they do not refund your money and wont talk to you about why. They just take your money, and stonewall you. Its a complete scam because it takes about 2 hours to start crashing. This happened with Assasins creed and Arkham Knight too. They have no loyalty to the products they sell. I would find a cheap XBox to play it on because its actually my favorite of the 3. (Not a popular opinion but I think its an amazing game)

It's a common issue with this one. I was able to fix it for me by following this guide for the original game: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=210917941
I only did the second step (boosted it from 512 to 2048 and set the other to 10000 from 30000). The .ini file it references is in the BioshockHD -> Bioshock 2 folder in %appdata% now. So far I haven't had any crashes, but it might not work for everyone. At least the original is more stable out of the box and you get it with 2 Remastered if all else fails.

I have found a way to consistently crash the game every time. Im at a point in the game where Im about the to face a big sister. I set about 20 Rivet traps in the same area along with about 3 mines. The Big sister hits them all at about the same time and wham the game crashes. its like it cant handle the input. I also seem to crash around water sometimes.

Someone here posted that a sure way to advance despite the crashes is to save the game every so often, that's what I did, especially after facing the bigdaddy, I recommend the lightning bolt and some heavy weapon or heavy shot, whichever does the most damage to prevent it from shooting, once defeated SAVE, collect Adam once and SAVE, more Adam SAVE, open a new door SAVE, all the time like that and it didn't crash, that's the only way I advanced.

The ONLY thing that keeps BioShock 2 Remastered from crashing is the "crash fix-28" .dll file from a user on NexusMods (/bioshock2/mods/28?tab=files&file_id=48) and you need to place it into your steamapps\common\BioShock 2 Remastered\Build\Final folder. (.dll needs to be renamed to dxgi)

Ive heard this has been the problem child of the series since it was on cd and bundled with games for windows live. I've moved on to this one having played the F out of the 1st one, I will just do here what I did in that one hit the quicksave key every 10 seconds or so. Should they fix the ♥♥♥♥? Absolutely, will they, not until Joe Q public gamer insists on quality, like we are all expected to do in our jobs.

Im sure theres a fix out there but honestly its is a joke though that Steam still sells this piece of ♥♥♥♥ and gets away with. Im a slow learner Ill give you that Steam, but If you sell ♥♥♥♥ and stonewall your customers with auto emails saying Ive played it for 2 hours so Im out of luck. or if I have to wait for the community to vet a game for a year. Ill just buy a console. What a shady ass company.

Only problem is consoles are doing this stutter, hitch crash bs as well. I was going to get a console so I could Evil Within & Bioshock in peace, but reviews out their state the ♥♥♥♥ would just follow me to those platforms.

Just to clarify, .dll is part of this file from Nexus?

If I had a dollar for every time i heard, "this will fix everything"

Its honestly probably multiple things that they just didnt bother fixing.

Agreed. If people were forced to account for their actions, game devs, people posting "fixes", I bet the bs would stop really flipping fast. I just tried the one about adding -dx9 to launch options, that did f all.

I have tried everything before. Nothing worked. After googleing I found a post about a fix and my crashes stopped. For me it worked. I had 4 crashes in 30 minutes before I decided to google and ignore the steam posts about .ini changes that wont fix bad coding.

Yes. There is only one file you need from the folder called Bioshock2CrashFix.dll and this is the one you need to rename to dxgi. Im still playing without a crash so far (But I've read in the post on reddit that it didnt fix the issue for at least one guy in the replies)
