Can't find Gene Bank to change my power back to thunderbolt
I've waste like 30 minutes straight searching the whole first level but can't find a working gene bank. I need to switch back to thunderbolt so that I can progress through that section where the turret shoots you down a hallway.

Yes, but it feels really ineffective

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ played it at least a couple of dozens of times and got stuck by this question
I'm watching a walkthrough right now and the lucky bastard still has thunderbolt, he's stunning turrets with it to hack them, makes the game a lot easier.

just shoot it
I'm trying to kill that Surgeon guy, he's the biggest bullet-sponge in the game and I can't stun his dumbass turret to hack it so that it shoots him instead. AHHHHHHHH!

It may not seem like it now, but next level you'll be bursting at the seam with ammo, so feel free to rock it out with the shotty and machine gun, Id recommend backing off and getting some antipersonnel rounds, if you have telekinesis, did you retrieve the Chompers dental key? accessing that area gives you some anti rounds if you don't have money to buy, to deal with the turret, there is flammable liquid you can hit with incinerate or just use Armour piercing rounds for the pistol, even with buying NONE of these, there are enough scattered about the level to completely max out the amount you have, these are ideal for the big daddies, combined with electric buck shot for the shotty. Overall, Electro is one of the ones I keep at all times, going forward, gene banks will be available for swapping out at you leisure. Finally, if your plasmids get screwed up, take them out and put them right back to force f1-f6 for the order you want them in.

Its also personal taste, but I for one LOVE the ENRAGE! plasmid, just sayin. never gets old using that and watching splicers kill themselves attacking big daddies.

Oh btw, in the area where you pick up Incinerate, on the 1st floor around where the camera is, it is worthwhile to press the button with the corpse, just sayin.

Steinman really only runs through the hallway passing by the turrets. The actual fight does not occur with the turrets. Electricity in general will stun the turrets. There should be some electric buckshot in the plant in front of the eternal flame crematorium.

Destroying the turrets may be the easiest solution, if the bullets are the issue you can use telekinesis on a body or luggage case to act as a shield while you walk past the turrets.

I was thinking the same after I left, and was wondering if carrying the body, if your quick, release as in just drop it, not launch it, the body would likely blow the turret if this fails. I'll try this on the next turret i come across and see if I can hack without bolting it first, you can hack cameras without bolting them.

I didn't know that. Either way i'm starting from the beginning of that level to get the bolt power back.

Another trick, if you opt for it, freezing things also permits a hack AND slows down the fluid.

I usually try and have at least 4 plasmid slots so i can always have Bolt, Incarcerate, slot 3 shares telekenisis and Sonic boom - which is great for pushing enemies into various traps, and the 4th one I use for Enrage/Sec. bullseye and another similar one, don't want to spoil so i won't mention it. All 3 remind me of tomatoes. Once you clear med. pavilion, you will have access to gene banks. Most people like the bees plasmid, I prefer the trap 1 if I unlock plasmid slot 5.
