Why is windowed mode NOT borderless?
It's like we're back in 2007 all over again with this release :spazdunno:

My guess is that's because this is an old game on an old engine and it can't do the whole borderless window thing. I'm no expert though, but it seems like borderless windowed mode is something that didn't become a feature until several years after BioShock came out.

It should have it definitely, but you can force it with the Borderless Gaming utility.

A core element of windows is a title bar you can use to drag them around. It was actually invented much earlier than 2007 and (due to demand) has been re-implemented for UWP "apps" as well. It won't go anywhere in the near future. (They also want you to buy a g/free-sync monitor and providing proper vsync and buffering won't get you to.)

Uh...he's not asking for borderless window mode for notepad bud. Borderless windowed mode for games is quite common in modern releases, in fact a *criticism* of UWP games early on is that they only ran in borderless window mode as opposed to exclusive fullscreen.

Borderless window mode for games gives you the advantage of no mode changes when you alt-tab back and forth, it's instant as it's just another window, only that it's running without the titlebars so it's just as immersive as exclusive fullscreen. It also forces triple buffering which can smooth out frame hitches for games that don't support it, as it has to go through Windows desktop window manager which has this on by default. The disadvantage is that it can sometimes hurt performance a tad, which obviously isn't an issue in a game like Bioshock.

like hell it does, at best they might've ported it to the version of UE3 used for Infinite, but considering the distinct lack of light shafts I doubt it.

The remaster runs on the same modified Unreal 2.5 engine as the original.

You'll need to provide a link for that.

Yeah, pretty annoying to have to use an extra program to do it, thought this was pretty much standard by now.

Thanks! Will def try it out.
Always wondered - why do some people prefer borderless windowed to regular fullscreen considering fullscreen performs better?

^^I've got a double monitor setup, and a lot of times I'll have a podcast or a video running on the other screen. I like to be able to just mouse over there and hit pause when I need to hear what's being said in the game. Or I'm looking something game related up online.

I don't want to have to worry about a game breaking when I alt+tab.

No alt tabbing issues, no v sync.
