FPS goes through the roof
I reach 300+ normal and hit upwards of 800 fps... my comp is actually getting hot as if I was running a normal triple A game on ultra from a recent title. My set up can run it but wtf? This normal?

I use MSI Afterburner and use it to globally cap the fps at 150 and that is normally where it runs at with this game.

Turn on Vsync? You will end up with bad tearing and likely graphic glitches running that high. Not to mention yeah of course it's getting hot it's pumping out way more frames than is necessary.

I see no tears or what not, do I just turn on Vsync to fix? Or off? There an option to limit the FPS?

In reference to computer getting hot... I'm noticing unusually high temps on my graphics card and am having to turn the fan up to much faster than usual.

I notice it in a small minority of games. I wonder if something graphically that they doing, or something that they're hooking into in the drivers is causing it.

I'll try out the VSYNC option too and see if that resolves it!

Well either will have the same effect. I know they updated the Physics from 30fps to 60fps so not sure if running it higher might bork the physics(Fallout comes to mind when going "over the limit" breaks stuff) Vsync will lock it 60fps you want to go higher than that use a Frame Limiter. I know AMD has one built into the CP and pretty sure Nvidia has one too.

BS. I'm certainly not having tearing or glitches. My tearing actually went away when I turned of V-Sync because turning on V-Sync locks the framerate to that of your monitor instead of your GPU outputting 400+ FPS (like mine did) and hoping that those frames happen to time correctly with your monitor, thus "tearing" the image when your turn.

And yes, OP, just turn V-Sync on. Jeez, the level of PC knowledge in this thread hurts.

I've turned on V-SYNC and the situation has improved significantly. Visual quality has improved and the graphics card is steady at a much more reasonable temperature.

I think you misunderstood that was 2 statements,. Turn it on. Running it that high(off) will cause bad tearing.

Well I run SLI 1080's the game only uses one with SLI enabled, even at 4k i was hitting 800+ FPS so the tearing was erm fun ...save the load on your GPU's people they will last longer and turn on V-sync or limt FPS with MSI afterburner or what ever you use.

I mean if people don't know what V-Sync is use for I don't really know what to say except learn what the graphics settings do and when to use them. I mean turning everything on for the sake of it can be pointless depending on what resolution you run at.

If you want to see something funny try farcry 2 with V-Sync off ....that bouncing glitch is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up if you go past 60 FPS lol

V-Sync should always be on if your PC can maintain a steady framerate above your monitor's refresh rate. If you have a 60 Hz monitor and your PC is capable of maintaining 80 FPS, V-sync.

If you're running a 144Hz monitor and your PC is only capable of running the game at 80 FPS, don't V-sync.

That's not what Vsync does, Vsync syncs your GPU's frame buffer with your monitor's refresh cycle, preventing the GPU from outputting partially rendered frames.
