Crashing issue?

Everytime I boot the game up, before it even loads it crashes and a windows's crash error box opens saying it crashed, and it is searching for the issue. That's it, anyone have the same issue, or a way to fix it? I just want to play some crusader :(

Im having the same issue if u look it up on fireflyworlds it tells you that steam's version is outdated and they are trying to contact them to get it fixed

Wrong. The game on Steam isnt outdated, it just doesnt have a patch installed that gives you a little better cosmetics. Want cosmetics? Dont play 10 year old games. :)

Beyond that, 2 topics down somebody mentions you can aply the cosmetics patch to the Steam version of Crusader, also called the HD-patch.

I'm in the dark what the issue could be, but something that you -might- want to look into is making sure you have older DirectX versions installed.

Well, it boots up but as soon as it starts loading, I don't even get a screen it turns black for a split second then windows pops up saying the program has stopped running.

I also installed the HD patch and the same error appeared. I'm gonna try uninstalling/reinstalling through steam, maybe that will clear it up.

Doing that did not fix the issue, I'm going to uninstall and delete the folder from the library, maybe that will fix the issue I'm not sure.

Did that fix the issue for you, because I have the exact same problem and I've tried unistalling it too but that still didn't help.

Same happened to me, i solved it installing the crusader hd patch 1.3.1 from here http://www.fireflyworlds.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=164&Itemid=247

patch didn't fix it for me. I was thinking it had something to do with not having backlogged versions of directx, as a friend had suggested but that wasn't the cause either.

For those with the Black Rectangle and CTD go to the game folder in your Steam Library run in Compatibility mode with Windows 8/7 whichever one works! Worked for me!

I'm really annoyed this isn't working for me. Did anyone fix it besides the compatibility fix? That won't work for me.

go to the place where you installed the game. Open the .EXE and than you can change it. Worked for me
