Not necessarily a "mod" in the modern gaming context, but it can drastically improve the gaming experience. After years of playing RTS games, I found Skirmish extremely easy. UCP has all sorts of settings to change AI castle layouts, aggressiveness, AI unit composition, etc. The game can be quite a challenge now when the enemy can send well over a thousand troops at you.
If you do install, I recommend you use Crusader Extreme (For the much higher unit cap) and just delete all the Extreme maps and replace them with base game ones. There is a setting in the UCP Installer to disable the "magic" in Crusader Extreme, so in a sense it becomes the regular game but with a much higher global unit cap.

This is a mod made with UCP tools. Basically, it maximizes the strength of AI without changing the game mechanism.
In order to reflect the character characteristics of each AI, the (original) game makes a great specialization and differentiation on the economy and fighting style of each AI. In fact, the optimal solution to maximize combat effectiveness is single, although the optimal solution of AI and the optimal solution of players are different (the APM of AI is just cheating, and AI does not spend stones when they repair walls
