Dude it's nuts. I'm going to try getting assassins to take out siege equipment.
at the start of the mission, slow down the game to the lowest settings, then delete your stockpile (yes, really.) Select the stockpile from the industry tab and put it down on the other side of the river in the southwest, near the grass and trees. Build your town around the grass. Buy enough stone to place two towers either side of your keep, and stick ballistae on both.
Lionheart only sieges your castle, and never launches raids against your economy buildings like Snake or Caliph, so this totally works
I didn't know it was tied to the stockpile.
Did this and beat it first try I think. LOL I kind of feel like I cheated, but toward the end I learned that you can change the stance on soldiers to defensive and aggressive from holding ground. I was getting so frustrated with the micro. And for so long, characters would not fight people that ran right by.. JEEZ I thought the game was just simpler than it is.
I didn't delete the stockpile the second time. I always forget I can build a tower across the rivers. So it took me a couple tries with a tower with constant archers and catapults on top left. Once you keep their two towers down, you can just starve them out. Keep sieging down their barracks and engineering building. AI from bot right will send infantry eventually or just attack dummy walls with catapults. Carefully manage troops and eek out some archers and crossbowmen. Gets easy to manage. Then you expand with some towers for the archers and engineering tower equipment. Then just trebuchet bot right down.
Expanding across the water early on with a square tower means you can secure stone and all the food and wood in bot left.
Hard to believe I made it this far without realizing you could set troops to hold ground, defensive, or aggressive. Had to set some swordmen to defensive this time. lol. Too much to micro otherwise.
Oh and then the only weird thing is tunnelers from the top right route killing my iron production. Gotta have dummy walls there too.
Although I went for north east side of the map for setting up those iron mines. Maybe that causes him to attack my economy.
