Jeez... lvl 33 or 34 or something... so hard
Two lionhearts. One top left and one bot right. They rush with swordsmen, pikemen, catapults and archers. Ridiculous!!!! And if you harass their production, they chase with cavalry.

And both of their bases has the altitude advantage.

I'm stuck on that one as well

LOL
Dude it's nuts. I'm going to try getting assassins to take out siege equipment.

Basically it's a siege vs siege battle, tons of micro. I've had good luck defending with trebuchets but then I get overwhelmed by pikemen and swordsmen. The cavalry won't charge unless you push on their base, like a hornets nest. There's so much to do to set your base up. They'll go for your critical buildings first which sucks. Iron and food are spread out, and they'll hit both and your stone production. So positioning for it is hard. Would be nice to get up some crossbowmen in square towers to shut down their archers that they send for my trebuchets and to clean up pikemen. Not sure how to castle up yet. Stone is hard to defend because it's out of range for walls. Trebuchets also kind of suck at hitting catapults. Very frustrating. But if you always knock out the cathedral and their engineering building, you can slow bot right for a long time. Lot of micro.

CAN'T DO IT
Pentay Sep 7, 2019 @ 11:01am
I can survive the first wave, but then I have nothing left but iron trickling in for gold and taxes at -6 for income. Food and stuff is stable. I guess I have to micro siege vs both opponents and the stone quarry to have enough resources which means shutting down every building they build so my gates can stay open.

I never thought this game would get this hard. I have no idea what to do. Make an extremely small castle and max iron production?

easy (but probably exploitative) way to win this mission:

at the start of the mission, slow down the game to the lowest settings, then delete your stockpile (yes, really.) Select the stockpile from the industry tab and put it down on the other side of the river in the southwest, near the grass and trees. Build your town around the grass. Buy enough stone to place two towers either side of your keep, and stick ballistae on both.

Lionheart only sieges your castle, and never launches raids against your economy buildings like Snake or Caliph, so this totally works

What the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I didn't know it was tied to the stockpile.

Did this and beat it first try I think. LOL I kind of feel like I cheated, but toward the end I learned that you can change the stance on soldiers to defensive and aggressive from holding ground. I was getting so frustrated with the micro. And for so long, characters would not fight people that ran right by.. JEEZ I thought the game was just simpler than it is.

You know what I realized at the end too, is you can just build a tower across the river to siege their base relatively free of danger. Put some crossbows up there and a spear gun for engineers, and it's on lock, should be able to collect stone there too, and you secure all the south without really having to move your stockpile. Moving it maybe speeds up production I guess. The stupid AI will march to your fort and then walk back and attack little walls I put up to protect from catapults on my archers. Easy mode.
Pentay Sep 9, 2019 @ 12:13pm
I finally beat it lol
I didn't delete the stockpile the second time. I always forget I can build a tower across the rivers. So it took me a couple tries with a tower with constant archers and catapults on top left. Once you keep their two towers down, you can just starve them out. Keep sieging down their barracks and engineering building. AI from bot right will send infantry eventually or just attack dummy walls with catapults. Carefully manage troops and eek out some archers and crossbowmen. Gets easy to manage. Then you expand with some towers for the archers and engineering tower equipment. Then just trebuchet bot right down.
Expanding across the water early on with a square tower means you can secure stone and all the food and wood in bot left.
Hard to believe I made it this far without realizing you could set troops to hold ground, defensive, or aggressive. Had to set some swordmen to defensive this time. lol. Too much to micro otherwise.
Oh and then the only weird thing is tunnelers from the top right route killing my iron production. Gotta have dummy walls there too.

I actually do this strat all the time, but even then, I failed to beat this level, and one of the Lionheart actually went to my economy buildings.

Although I went for north east side of the map for setting up those iron mines. Maybe that causes him to attack my economy.

Dont be silly. You dont have to cheat for win. Just focus on iron, which is near your base (north), hold low population (16) and dont build castle. You need app 5 buildings. And buy Arabian horse raiders. They are fast and you can send them fast on critical places.

Hey, i placed several big towers in the beginning of the mission with mangonels on them. This way i neutralized the northern Lionheart and easy defended myself from the other one
