Gratz on finishing the game ! :)
Don't hesitate to give me your impressions about it (pros & cons), so I'll help me to do improvements (either in a sequel or a patch).
About the boots, I forgotten to put them in the game ! >_<
Or I mixed up with the Epic ones, I'm not sure at this point.
Anyway, I'll put them for next update..!
I'll tell you in what level when I'll have decided, I'll have to recheck all the end-game loot 1st.
ok, thanks, please make it so that we can grab them without starting a new game or at least from auto-save at the start of a level.
About the game:
Pros:
- Atmosphere is good
- Music is good
- Game is good
- Lava level was good view :-)
Cons:
- Sound of Druid's spell, forgot which one, replenish the whole party to 72 hp, not the rain one, is going on nerves after some time, the last 2 levels were playing without sound :-)
- Too many levels, one could think it's not, but i think 15 would be enough, this is of course my personal opinion and don't want to offend you, but i would save 6-12 months work, release 15 levels only and put the price at 15 bucks on release, more customers maybe, but nobody really knows
- and in the german version, as boss fights started always one guy was telling "should i tell you what is the weakness...." cmon, why you are telling that all the time, simply tell it or to whom you are speaking :-)
- ok, the SSAO or shadows/light problem, i think it's graphic card, but idk, needed to switch on and off every 20-30 mins, to remove artifacts.
These were the pros&cons on the 1st sight.
Good game!
Only respecced twice, both before the Bone Dragon - couldn't deal with him using Priest so switched to Druid (looks like the most OP healer to me, he's got absolutely no mana or HPS problems even in the most intensive fights). I kinda tend to hoard stuff... so ended up with a couple dozens healing and mana potions, and lots of respec points for all characters. If only respecs were free, I'd have loved to check out opportinuties like reversing roles of warrior and rogue, and trying out the Arcanist (Elementalist is quite great, especialy when crossed with Arcanist). You already know about the issue with speccing INTO Ranger ;)
The first half of the game looked a bit rough in terms of balance to me, some fights were very hard and some laughably easy, but in the second half it all seems pretty balanced... more or less, my party just breezed through most mobs and even bosses. As I said, only a few Elites posed a problem (druids greatest woe are heavy burst hitters).
Some bosses in my oipinion really need to be toned up (like elven sorceress with curse stacking: to force player to choose between interrupting the next curse or heal, as she stands now she can be killed without removing curses at all or wizardess in the Goblin tower, I hever had to move from my spot - she's got very bad mana problems and druid had no trouble at all healing the group after her occasional fireball).
All in all, the game really seems to be cautiously balanced for the Mercenary difficulty, but in some fights luck plays too much of a role (a hard skill crit, or a number of full - not blocked or parried - hits in a row could ruin my tank), again that happened mostly in the first half.
Okay, now for the thing irritating me the most. Aggro!
Not much point in speccing damage dealers into more pew-pew when they can't deal danmage without getting aggroed. The greatest problem is - a hard crit (my elementalist crits were on the upper side of 250 by the endgame) can instantly aggro mob even if the frame is not yellow. If I understand correctly, yellow border = danger zone, so kinda need to make that zone a bit more encompassing. And all that with full deaggro talents on both DDs. No qualms about healing though, druid is well-balanced aggro-wise.
And yes, I also want to know where the legendary boots are! By endgame I had quite a few legendaries, even two robes (one had very lousy stats, definitely not with spellcaster in mind), the only useless one was the helm I just remembered that I never killed those trolls... all that loot and exp to waste :(
BTW, congratulations from the bottom of my heart for finding the right balance in puzzles! Not too anoying, not too hard, just perfect (for me at least).
And one more thing, bosses dropping only Rare loot is kinda lackluster. I can't say that everyone in my party was always wearing Epics, it's just unimpressive consdering the effort (I also noticed that you need around 5-6 levels for items of one tier to outweigh the next tier which is just fine).
The final boss... can't say much and I don't want spoillers here. I only can say that the fight was pretty intense and the mechanics was very different from the final bosses I fought in other games of this kind :)
Ugh, that was a long writing. Now I'll relax a bit and restart on an easy difficulty, try out some more exotic specializations and go for those 'without a pause' achievements (really not possible on Mercenary, you warned right).
1- Gratz on finishing the game ! :-)
2- you're supposed to rage against the Dragon & in the Arena ! :-p
3- at beginning of the game, you're very dependent of the random loot order (if you get chests & weapons at 1st = easier at first but harder in the levels ~4-5, and vice versa) ; so the potions are meant to smooth things over
4- Ok, I'll raise Witch Curse damage by 10% in next update
5- I added a Yellow aggro indicator, before the Orange one for next update.
It's hard to balance aggro, because if you tank never lose it, it gets too easy, and if he loses it too often, it gets too painful... >_<
6- Did you talent for Thunder Clap damage and favorite a bit the STR enchantments for your tank (when you had the choice) to increase his damage ?
7- boss' loot isn't supposed to be too great ; letting you go on deeper in the the dungeon is the real reward ! :-p
8- it seems you liked the Final Boss, at least you appreciated his originality, which makes me glad as I had spent a long time trying to figure out how to make him special..! :-)
More exactly, they are in a place without any loot before but where you could have expected to find something if you have noticed there are 2 other places like that with some loot, but actually, it's not exactly in the place you'd expect it, but almost.
If you understood what I wrote in the previous sentence, something may be wrong with you... ;-)
Assassin's redirection skill helps, but its cooldown is really long and before I pop his Haste steroid I must be sure that I have the sure way of taking the aggro back.
But overall, the aggro management mechanics is fine. If you overthink the fine-tuning it might just ruin it all, so don't worry - it might just be me in the wrong, speccing my DDs into sorta glass cannons.
I really liked the final boss, even the last part mechanics. Although there are no clear indicators where the next bolts will go from, the pattern is fixed and I just needed to watch it repeat once or twice.
The teleport puzzle actually made me draw a map of the room, and reminded me of a very similar puzle in Eye of the Beholder (on level 5). Oh that feeling of nostalgia.
> Don't say I have to do that level all over again now, and from the start, no less :)
So, do we need to start a new game or can we simply load a save game and go back or on auto-save of that level?
means, level before auto-save, redoing both levels
nice, done, was easy, thanks!
Btw still really surprised how fast you react on community compared to other devs
@ManuTOO, I actually understood what you've written there. To a 't'. Am I alright, doctor? And I'm truly amazed at how open you are with the players. *takes hat off and bows*
PS. It's kinda strange but all legendary caster items went onto my druid, none of those I found had a crit stat...
thanks ! :)
The other loots, you have a piece for every of your toons normally (ie: 4 legendary chests, and a couple of other slots).
For the boots, they're unique and meant for your healer.
Well, would you take a look at this then? http://steamcommunity.com/id/fR0z3nS0u1/screenshot/648877624342407736
This is the robe intended to my mage, it seems. On this save I haven't picked up any of the three other chest pieces but I did pick them up later (healer's robe is there as well) :)
You can see I haven't used haste and crit potions at all... due to the aggro.
One more thing that doesn't let me sleep. There's a secret on level 19 I mean that invisible teleporter that I just can't figure out. No buttons or switches anywhere in vicinity aside from the passage with hidden loot I've opened.
