Random dungeon generation?
Is the story/main quest prebuilt or randomly generated? Is there some kind of "endless mode" (planned or already implemented) that has random levels? Just trying to get an idea of replayability.

Game looks great though and the dev seems to have a smart head on his shoulders with good design decisions and cool mechanics.

No random generation of the level.
Only the loot is random.

I'm thinking about adding a Plus mode if the game is popular enough, but it wouldn't feature random dungeon ; it'd scale the level of the enemies so you can do 1 more run from the start.

Random level generation is not something totally out of the table, but I hope users will create & share their own levels and that they will be more interesting to play than random generated ones..! ;-)

i would love to have a game like this with randomly generated content. that would give it a ton of replayability. that's not to say that premade maps arnt great too

Thanks a lot for the reply dev. Based on the story gameplay length you've said in other posts handcrafted levels should be plenty of content, just in a different, more old school way.

Does the combat tend to vary? I'm still in the "watch videos to decide" stage, and so far a lot of the early game seems the same pattern of attacks/skills/defense against endless skeletons.

@Carpeted Bathroom,
yes, it changes in subtle ways (or not so subtle ways for some Specializations) every time you gain a new ability, and sometimes as well when you get a new talent (ie: at each leveling up).
The pace of change is a bit slow, though ; so depending of your taste it may or may not be ok with you.
Normally, you need time to master each step, so for the average player it's ok... :-)

Random Dungeon Generation is important to keep game alive longer.
I suggest developer can consider endless "Rogue" mode...
... where party wipe = save file deleted.

I don't mind developer sell DLC just for this mode.

Yeah I agree. I would love to have a random dungeon generation feature for the game and would pay for it as a dlc if it comes to that.

@Samseng Yik & Dantioch,
if I were to make a Rogue mode, I'd very likely integrate it for free in the game (except if I spend months on it ! :) ), hoping it'll bring more sales from rogue fans.

There's an issue though : I'm a huge fan of dungeon crawling, but I'm only a moderate fan of rogue games, so I'm not sure if the result could be perfect or not.

Hmm maybe if it is not too much trouble and possible, you could make the rogue mode an option that can be turned on and off. This way, rogue fans would be satisfied and dungeon crawling fans will be satisfied as well. And there may be more sales as a result.

Just my thoughts.

Is perfectly normal the developer is just a normal rogue fans.

So, these are the goals :
- a story/campaign with classic dungeon crawling (done)
- a rogue mode without story, infinite floor with random dungeon generation.

I can feel I want a "Roguelike" FPS pausable Wow Dungeon Party management game.

Sounds good!

I don't think random dungeon generation necessarily needs to be tied to roguelike elements (even though it commonly is these days). Not everything needs permadeath and the latest dozen buzzwords.

I very much like the idea of taking my campaign party into a challenging, "end game" style dungeon with unlimited floors that are randomly generated. The investment in a full party is too much to just flat out delete the save file imho. That's what a "hardcore" mode OPTION is good for.
Roguelike crawler is a nice idea (you can get something like that as a custom dungeon for Grimrock 2). But I think more important is a good editor, list for customly made maps and dungeons, some kind of character roster where you keep your party to use in custom made dungeons.

I would 100% buy this game if there was a separate gamemode in which dungeons were procedurally generated and it had permadeath with some sort of a high scoring system. I appreciate the campaign element, but it seems like a modern dungeon crawler doesn't appeal to most people without throwing some more roguelike elements in there.
@ManuTOO If your're a fan of dungeon crawling you've probably played Dungeon Hack. It is a good example of dungeon crawler with procedurally generated dungeons.
