[Problem] Show-stopping FPS lag in Dungeons
I'm currently playing at a somewhat older laptop (i7-2630QM @2ghz, NVidia 560M, newest gfx driver - 372.54).
Graphics is basically lowest, capped at 30 fps.

Outside maps are fine, I have somewhat smooth 30 fps, little to no dips in fps.

However, everytime I enter a dungeon/cave/tomb, my FPS go down to 6 fps in the matter of seconds, giving me a really aweful slideshow experience.
Sometimes it "recovers" to 30 fps after a while and then a few seconds later, it's slow as hell again.
CPU usage doesn't seem to be overly high but my fan is going crazy, so I guess the GPU is at its limit.

One thing I noticed: when I open the map, it goes back to 30 fps, so I'm pretty confident that the rendering of the underworlds is somehow causing the problem.

Anyone experiencing something similar? - or maybe there's some kind of fix?

You could try going to Options/Graphic Options/Advanced Graphic Options and clicking the "Fastest Settings" button to see if that helps. BTW, if you do that the game will remove shadows, some effects/background models, some other effects.... so it'll look even worse, but play faster.

To be fair I get that nearly everytime still too, no matter what graphic settings it is.

I'm about 92.46% certain it's all those damn uninteractable wall torches doing it. The FPS goes worse when there's a ton of torches and fire/smoke particle effects going on at once.

I'm already on lowest settings, I only re-enabled "Simple Shadows" (funny lil' blobs) and increased effect detail to half because I was missing acid/poison on the ground (= no good for glass cannons)

But like RobDeLaMorte, I also get it on every setting.

Sorry, hoped to help

Ok so this happened outside dungeons for once: when the weather/darkness machine kicked in and everything went dark.

My guess: the light sources that activate during night/dark absolutely kill the performance

Yeah, it sounds like it's the number of lights that is causing the issue. Go into the advanced graphics options and lower the light models option and see if that helps.

Thats a known problem pretty much since the game started its early access period. I remember people having the same issue in the past. Especially when going through the new dungeon tilesets.
