A+ Achievements
There aren't any. Which kinda makes zero sense, because A+'ing levels is how you prove you're a badass. Other than the last level in Hell, I've gotten an A+ on every level in Light World, and I think got them through the first two or three worlds in Dark World; something that I'd like to think merits an achievement. If you can get one for giving Claptrap a high five, getting an A+ for a chapter deserves at least one as well.
But then, there are achievements for not dying through the entire chapter, which, to be honest, makes zero sense. A not dying achievement only makes sense when dying gives you some sort of advantage, like checkpoints or keeping loot; however, neither of those exist in SMB. Dying has zero consequences, but at the same time it doesn't provide any sort of help for your next time through. Other than getting practice for the level, that is. But then, even that's a moot point, because if you just load up a level that you've already played and beat it without dying, bam, you've got the achievement. Is there anyone else who's as honked off as I am about this?

A+ ranking in the Light World makes sense because doing so unlocks the level's Dark World counterpart. I don't think doing so accomplishes anything on Dark World, but then again if you could A+ in Light World and not in Dark World I guess people would complain about that as well. It's fun, isn't that enough? And I don't think A+'ing needs it's own achievement because there already are those "spend as little time as possible in <chapter>" achievements which kind of require you to A+ all (or at least most) levels anyway.

No Death achievements are the ultimate test of skill and nerves, and I think having them in the game makes perfect sense given the nature of the game. They add countless hours of replayability if you're up for the challenge. Getting them isn't as simple as you make it seem because you need to consecutively beat all the levels in a chapter without dying in one sitting. You should give them a try.

it doesn't really matter to me. plus, it takes considerably more skill to complete a chapter without dying than it does to A+ a level.

But if you die, can't you just reload the level and try again? Doesn't that effectively make it just like regular playing, but with a longer wait between lives?

No. If you die you need to start all over again. I mean, of course you can reload the level, but then you need to complete all the levels you did before again. The key here is that in order to get those achievements you are not allowed to die at any point.

OHHHH. That makes a bit more sense. If that's how it works, then the not-dying achievements are pretty brutal.
But A+'s aren't exactly the easiest to get either, though. I dunno. While I feel better about the not-dying achievements, I still feel like there should be something for A+'s, or at least Dark World A+'s.

Also: challenge accepted, hahahaha.

What about the speedrunning achievements I meantioned? If you go to Super Meat Boy's achievement page and click "Global Achievement Stats" you'll find five achievements with Meat Boy on a skewer in different stages of cooking. These are rewarded for "spending as little time as possible" in their respective chapters, which are chapters 1-5. Getting them requires you to not only A-rank every level but actually be much faster than that.

There's a time limit for each chapter that you need to get under but I'm not exactly sure what they are . But the limit is higher for the tougher chapters, for example in Rapture it is much higher than in The Forest etc. I'm sure you get the point. While they're not achievements for A-ranking all the levels per se, I personally think they're quite close enough even though they don't cover The End and Cotton Alley.

There used to be an A+ achievement (around release time), but it was removed because they couldn't get it to work without "breaking things."

I agree. This game needs more achievements :happymeat: I can't believe there are like 16 "not-dying in a whole world" achievements, but there isn't an achievement for 100% a single chapter
