Game Freezes after Controller Warning/Joke
I'm trying to play Super Meat Boy on my Macbook Pro using OSX 10.6.8. When I start the game I get the normal "You should use a controller instead of a keyboard" warning, and then it goes to a black screen with only the buzzsaw loading icon spinning in the bottom left hand corner. The Steam Community Tab pops up and then goes away. And thats as far as I get. The game freezes after that and that buzzsaw just keeps on spinning. I've had this problem for a while but I'm just now looking to get it fixed. I searched the official Super Meat Boy site and looked at their "Everything a Mac User Needs to Know" page and got nothing. Tried a couple of launch options as well with no luck. Any ideas?

Weird. I tried doing that multiple times and even tried downloading the game straight to my Macbook from the HIB website. Its definitely a game problem and not a Steam problem but still annoying.

I redeemed a PC gift copy today. I freeze after controller recommendation after startup (black screen, blue circle cursor in the screen hwere my mouse is, and star rotating in bottom left, but nothing happens after waiting). I've tried new dlls, reinstalling, re downloading, running in XP SP3, running in Win95, running in windowed, running in dev mode, running in 256 colors, running 640 x whatever, verifying integrity.

Yes, I'm mad bro.

Uninstall and reinstall, try getting new RAM, update your graphics driver. This is all I can guess. I don't own a Mac, I'm just guessing, so don't quote me unless it worked.

I've got all the required specs to run the game. All of my other games work so I think its a problem with the game and not my computer.

I had this problem on a PC. I ran a virus check and then rebooted the game, it worked fine. I use Avast.

I tried to play the game again last night and it ran fine. Its like it fixed itself. Weird.

Mac Users super mean boy (under mac) works with gamepads, BUT there should a gamepad driver.
I tried to attach opensoure xbox360 driver and it worked (poorly, but almost stable), sorry can't remember its name.
Anyway, game does not includes userspace drivers for gamepads.

Ive noticed that when a click or hit a button while loading it freezes, or if I'm on the internet when I start the game

Try verifying the integrity of the game cache and defragmenting the cache files, then run the game. That's what I did and the game works fine now.

I'm getting this problem on my PC suddenly today, too. I've attempted everything listed here, plus reinstalling direct x. I deleted my userdata folder and reinstalled, it worked once, then failed again after quitting and reopening the game. I did the same thing again and it failed again after loading the game once and quitting. Any further ideas?

ok just in case anyone is also having this issue and finds this thread, I solved it this way:

http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Super_Meat_Boy

Crashing Steam version
If the game crashes on launch, right-click the game in your Steam Library, click on properties and then 'Set Launch options...', and type the following:
-windowed -<YOUR RESOLUTION> -lowdetail

(I also ran as administrator and set to windows xp sp3 compatibility mode so I don't know if it's a combination of those things)
