How are you supposed to beat 4-2 if Meat Boy keeps exploding randomly?

Check the integrity of files of the game:

Open Steam > Library > Super Meat Boy > Right Click > Proprieties > Local Files > Check Integrity of Local Files

This should fix it, if the threat persists, please let us know.

Also it has less chances to happen if you are on the middle of the plateform

Many platforms in this game will instantly kill you if you look at them funny, I never figured out the cause. There were numerous bugs listed on a Wiki I helped contribute to but I dunno if that Wiki is still alive.
