you can get a cheap wired 360 controller for $15 or so at any game store. even cheaper online.
If you have a wireless one, the usb adapter for pc is like $10 anywhere.
Ive had my wired one longer than ive had my pc. its a great investment. Im sure you can find any $5 generic usb controller online and use it.
Please dont cry about a game if you dont have the proper hardware to play it.
Like getting an Xbox and only buying ps4 titles and wondering why it doesnt work.

He just told you how to edit the controls to make it amazing-
Playing the game specifically with a gamepad is amazing!!!!! beyond any repair will it make you go back to keyboard; keyboard and mouse is strictly for RPG and FPS;
I did the same thing. The game is actually fun now that I have a controller.
i played with a controller since i pirated the game, now I love it even more with legit version :D same controller'
Go into Program Files(x86) -> Steam -> steamapps -> common -> Super Meat Boy and then open buttonmap.cfg in an editor (I use Notepad++). Here you can change the bindings.
Normally, it would be:
but you can change the bindings however you want here. For example, my controls are:
SIDE NOTE: the controls only work in-game, not the menu. So the menu will be operated with arrow keys still. You'll want to save the file as a .xml and have the name be buttonmap.cfg
Mrjodicow is correct, you can change the basic controls through the main file but to change things like pause or for some other nifty tricks a third party remapping software is required. Crucrux has posted one used by a lot of speedrunners.
Keyboard has an advantage over controller for some other characters but for meat boy its simply preference.
I use WASD instead of arrow keys for everything. Only use a controller for this game lol
