Is it me or is this game too hard
I am a veteran of many many racing games including Wipeout series, and the Burnout series upon which this game shares DNA....but man I am sucking BAD at this game. I breezed through the first act of the campaign and have now hit a wall. Blue shell BS, rubber banding and the fact that it appears nearly every single racer is somehow faster than I am is really starting to wear me down. I am wrecking far too much, in fact the crash cam has killed me more times than I can count as I cannot recover in time.

To take a break from the campaign I decided I would try scenarios. I cannot place higher than 8th in many of the races, have taken numerous faults (degrading my performance even further) and in the end you get NOTHING for even trying if you end up not meeting finishing requirements. The finish first in eliminator is absurd with the AI the way it is.

Like I said it may be me, but is anyone else finding this game punishingly hard? I love the concept of a rogue racing game, but this one needs some tuning for those of us that are not F1 drivers.

I'm also a veteran of racing games, and am currently playing on the second highest difficulty (haven't beaten campaign yet to unlock the last difficulty) and so far I am consistently placing in the top 3 or winning. I think the game gets easier the more you fail, as with any roguelite, cuz then you'll have credits to make new builds and unlock more abilities/parts/etc to improve your vehicle's stats.

Thanks I will keep at it.
yes I had to alt f4 first qualification when culdn't finish race first with sebulba, I understand ppl telling skill issue but as 40 yr old guy having better things to do I want to relax and not play like it is my second or first job. I think may ppl will not pass that race at all and will shelve the game, overall game is very good but progress should be easier on lowest adept difficulity level. So when you do not want to loose important race just kill game with alt f4 and start it again and you will be able to race again without loosing progress
If anything I'd like it to be a bit harder, but you can't go in expecting to win. Sometimes you come in 6th, 7th, etc. - as long as you survive the race consider it a victory, and you'll unlock some tools to do a bit better in the next race.
I struggled a bit at first, especially online, but I started out with a bad habit trying to take corners in the landspeeder by only using the air brake if I couldn't take a corner "full gas."

But online forced me to learn how to use the drift button to corner and sometimes use drift with some air brake.

Completing the startup sequence button presses and doing a "perfect start" is a massive advantage too.
You can turn off the crash cam in the settings, if it leads to you crashing because of it.

You are specifically supposed to lose the first Sebulba race so that the game can tutorialize all the "start over" mechanics like upgrading your ship, his craft is deliberately overtuned. You can still beat it if you do everything perfectly but they didn't intend for you to.
My impression is that the starting upgrade pips are to powerful in the campaign: with no starting pips it's quite hard, with 15 it's very easy indeed. The early advantage snowballs with early victories giving better rewards and being able to reliably do the higher rewarding elimination races.
Its you. I am beating the AI by 10 - 15 seconds on the recommended difficulty

I haven't played this game yet. But something I notice with many racing games is that they go from doable to nigh impossible in like a second.
upgrades are really really strong

Your opponents are starting fresh along with you so the first race is pure without upgrades. It definitely gets easier if you build your speeder just right but I hit top 3 on the first race in all three acts. I beat the campaign in one sitting, actually
